Mangudai while having bonus damage against siege are still fragile to siege themselves, especially against longer ranged scorps. The main difference is that before with micro you could bait the projectiles and have a handful of them ping individual siege units, which against ballistics won't work well. Yo was very late in trying to go for onager, If he hand a handful of them he could have dealt with them. Khmr have an average of 49% winrate with nearly 53% +1900 elo, compared to say romans that have 56%, I wouldn't be too fast to bring out the nerf stick.

And he is playing against Mongols which have one of the best siege unit bonus, and counters too... Ballistic on khmer is super broken

Agreed. Watching that big ball of Mangudai being wrecked by Scorps hurt; there should have been a big pile of Hussar at the front to distract and soak up damage, but they came too late because eco was focused on Mangudai. Drill Onagers finally hit the field, but only a few 'trickle' Onagers showing up while the Scorp Ball was already at its peak and protected by a mountain of Hussar; was just not going to cut it. Also, Hera's vision and awareness was insane. None of those runbys ever did significant damage. Lots of Hussar not in the fight 'cause they were being shot down by defensive castles.

I love scops getting ballistics and they should keep that change but there might need to be some small changes to heavy scops or khmer (scop Civs). No bombarbs was key here.

I on the other hand think that its not that insane, it is still hard countered by cav when in smaller numbers and late it dies super easy to SO or BBC. I think it just gave civs that lacked such a strong option for deathball comp in lategame. And dont forget that khmer have unique tech to make the scorps this powerfull, normally they dont really excel in late that much, they are just there to powercheck CA in castle age. Also i YO went SO mass + hussar i think he would have managed to kill Heras mass, he just switched too late and didnt have res to mass

Hmmm... I think the Mongol play made a mistake not making more Onagers in Imp. he waited too long and really needed them when you started having 10+ scorpions at all times, I say this as a measly ~1000 player who plays Mongols on Arabia a lot but this is a mistake I've made and I see others make even before the recent Scorpions buff. I kinda think the heavy scorpion could use a nerf, like to damage, but I think even before ballistics Scorpions if you tried to take any mass of unit into a mass of Scorpions you were doing it wrong it's just you could get away with it with micro before. Either way I think a damage nerf to Heavy Scorpion might be the best thing, it's good that we have to respect them now but with the only real response being Onagers that's too much, Heavy Cav. should at least be able to get threaten them in mass and maybe Light Cav. if there are enough of them.

I semi agree, onagers need to be buffed in 1v1 but not team games. Seige onager and regular onager upgrade cost being reduced may accomplish just this.

Scorpions are more than twice as expensive as arbalests. A ball of 20 heavy scorps is 40+ arbs. Both armies will shred hussars. Both armies have the same counter: Good SO and BC shots.

Like, we've all seen Hera micro a big arb deathball; it's about as disgusting as these scorps. I honestly think the deciding factor here was Hera's excellent hussar screening to keep the scorps safe. (That and forcing Yo to sacrifice most of his mangudai to kill trebs. Twice.)

scorpions range of flying bolt is huge, it outranges everything, for example if theres halbadier between cannon and scorpion, scorpion kills cannon through its outside of its range
