Then when you try calling them it saids can no longer take calls. Center point. Should be looked into as about this

Clearly none of our county leaders were prepared for this storm to turn and directly hit Houston. Even though they were warned this could happen last week. Very disappointed and heartbroken for the loss of life.

Man. When will people learn. Don't even risk your life to go to work police, ambulance, firefighter. If it's not safe don't try. Never worth to lose your life and other people losing you for that.

They're needed even more in emergencies. To you it might not be worth it, but to them the possibility to save other people's lives might be. We thank that man for trying to get to his job as a first responder to help others before himself. RIP

The police are first responders and are needed in emergencies... He knew that and tried to come do his job. Instead of finding something to get furious about, getting mad at them for memorializing him, just give your condolences and move on.

So the crews are not there because they had no idea Beryl was coming, right?
@kevinpro987214 күн бұрын
This is complete incompetence from CenterPoint, there has to be some major change to this if not we’re doomed to get the same result if not even worse if a stronger hurricane hits us given we aren’t even at peak hurricane season yet
@moment-of-glory14 күн бұрын
Heads should roll, somebody at the $20B company was worried about the bottom line when it came to moving crews down here JUST IN CASE.. now people will suffer in this heat until Thursday or Friday because of greed

Thank god it wasn't a category 3 to category 5!! This was only a category 1 to maybe category 1 &1/2. That part is TRULY FRIGHTENING!!

This was a Cat.1 storm. Other than coastal locations facing storm surge the biggest potential problem is going to be rain related flooding. This part of SE TX is very flat and very flood prone. The massive influx of people into those flood sensitive areas only makes it worse.

@i_liek_bois14 күн бұрын
Just taking it at face value, in today's world a "level 1" information officer is probably pretty important, (assuming lvl 1 is the highest). His work could have meant stopping big fraudulent charges or having the authority to pursue important things and make that day by day progress. Its sad he died and I would say that his job specifically should be possible to work from home on a day like today. That should be addressed and that change memorialized to him.

The crews were not here because CNP would have had to pay hundreds of thousands extra in hotels and wages. CNP is cheap and reactive not proactive. I worked in customer service for years and eventually quit. They are cheap. Their CEO makes millions a year and they worry about the wrong thing. We would tell customers bull restoration times because CNP was too cheap to upgrade their SAP application to real-time for their contact center. I quit after 10 years in management because I felt they were unethical in their treatment of customers.

Over 2 million homes lost power. You cant expect to get power back right away. I lost my power too and hated it but restoring power to over 2 million homes having to physically repair equipment takes some time.
@blakecorkill14 күн бұрын
I agree but there should've been standby techs. I drove a lot today and didn't see a single truck. I am patient and people should be realistic in their expectations on getting their power restored. However, the power companies should've known better. Shame on them.
