when will your electricity be turned back on..its been off in Silverglen North since 1:55 am..I really don't understand this power rollover thing..ppl would be using the same energy regardless hot or cold outside..just have ppl unplug things they are not using rather keeping ppl cold for so many hours, having our food spoil..this is ridiculous..and how are we supposed to go check on our elderly neighbors..ITS COLD OUTSIDE and now it's raining again..😡😡 do better Houston

Watching cold, snow, sleet and ice weather move South in the USA. Poor folks are NOT used to this and it can be numbing. Here are a few tips from an Idaho/Montana gal. Add some if you feel, but share for certain because eventually someone will see this who needs to: 1. Layer up. Leggings, pants, skirts (more skirts = more insulation); Loose is better than tight. 2. Create a 'warm area' in your home and close off all other rooms. Keep space heaters pointing under sinks in bath and kitchen. 3. Keep shovel (snow or otherwise) in the house so you can shovel OUT. You can accomplish a lot outside if you do it in short spurts and seek warm room inside til warm enough to tackle again. 4. Make HUGE pot of warm soup/stew/pot o' beans, whatever - but you will do well to have warm food instantly available. 5. Don't leave the house and drive. Just don't. Make your neighbors your concern for a few days during the emergency cold. 6. You can pitch a tent in your living room and make it fun - and the tent will be warmer will all the bodies and pet bodies in there. If the power goes out, you'll still survive. 7. If you go outside in footwear that is not grippy, take and Wrap cord or twine or thin rope around so it will catch in the ice and snow. Still, walk like a penguin.

I'm from Pittsburgh. Normal weather to me. 1.)👉Make SURE you let the tap water run everywhere-a little trickle all night or your pipes will freeze!! 2.) Wear 2 pairs of pants & shirts ans socks in the house and outside. 3.) Foam rubber is extremely warm! 4.) WHERE YOU FEEL FREEZING DRAFTS coming into the house get wet paper[newspaper or whatever] and simply cram it into those cracks or just lay it across the breezy area and it will freeze in seconds making that draft coming in stop.
