When I was a freshman, I had a professor in college who would lock the door and wouldn’t let any of the students open the door if someone came in late. Only she was allowed to open it and before she would open it, she would ask who it was. Her reason for doing this was in case there was an active shooter, they wouldn’t have easy access to come inside our classroom. Some teachers really do go out of their way to protect their students.

I don’t think you understand how elementary schools work children aren’t young adults. There are two teachers per class and they have joining rooms. Locked doors aren’t the solution Lmaoo, a door won’t stop a high velocity bullet. The cops were outside and were to scared and lacked balls to go in the line of fire. The teachers showed more bravery than the cops. They had a resource officer and he did nothing, they had a good guy with a gun and ir didn’t do anything. We need to stop letting people military weapons so easily, if you want a rifle there should be a requirement like in New Zeland that requires you to have three character witness letters. 18 year olds who are clearly disturbed shouldn’t be able to buy guns so easily

Consistent criminal behavior doesn’t stop just because someone turns 18. Of course I do believe that sometimes, a person does need a fresh start but gun dealers do need some info about a minor’s lifestyle to help them make better decisions. Perhaps the parents or guardians need to be contacted if the person is still living at home or maybe have a waiting period after someone applies for a license. We have to take classes in VA, I’m not sure about TX.

this is the absolute WORST protocol I have ever heard of. rule #1, you do NOT respond to ANYONE until the area is cleared. I'm 28 and learned that in elementary school. I can't believe this officer was telling kids to respond to him while there was an ACTIVE SHOOTER roaming the halls. all doors need to be closed and LOCKED. this is just something that never should have happened. and for a state that is "so proud" of their guns, this shooter should have been shot on the SPOT when he was walking AROUND the school with an AR-15 around his neck. just disgusting. also, current gun laws ARE an issue. if you're not old enough to DRINK at 18, what in the HECK makes you think that an 18 year old SHOULD OWN A GUN?!

We as parents have to be on top of our kids and if we see that they are starting to veer off that’s when we need to start asking questions. I know it’s hard to accept and even come to terms that our child may have a psychological mental problem, but we need to address it head-on before it’s too damn late. For a long time I was on the fence when people die and people say it’s ok their in heaven. But it’s not ok to those parents who lost their children. If there was a god why did he let this happen why not intervene. What happened god. Where are all the angels to protect these children. Please don’t say this they way god want it be because it doesn’t make sense I believe in science now that something is really messed up with these peoples minds that makes them do these type of things that no one has an answer for.

Sadly, for too many homicidal young people, the real question seems to be, "Why not?" because our society makes mass shootings look so easy. @@fkUTube449 I really don't get what an 18 year old would need an assault rifle for. I'm not so familiar with the laws in Texas, but I think there should be some sort of tiers of gun ownership. For instance, first 2 years of having a license you are allowed the purchase of a single handgun. Then maybe in the next two year window you may purchase a second handgun, and in the next maybe you can purchase a shotgun or rifle. After you've proven you can responsibly own a single lesser powered firearm initially, then you can move up.

Honestly, I’m kinda suspicious of his home life. Given the fact he stole his grandmother’s truck...this implies that he didn’t own his own car. Also, he crashed...so perhaps he didn’t even have a license. He was 18 and incapable of controlling his own social life as evidenced from the fact he texted that his grandmother was shutting his service off. He also dropped out of highschool and lived in a rural area. So...you have a young adult who is being controlled completely by another, given hardly any freedom, and....oh dear he just sounds like me at 18 lol. I’m betting he was also a foster kid. Oh and extra points that the grandparents were old fashioned conservative? To me this sounds like an abused teen who had the entire world turn against them once they turned 18 cause he wasn’t allowed to control his life until he turned into an adult and was magically expected to fix everything himself. He realized how impossible this feat would be and subconsciously chose children. Cause to him he likely died as a child thanks to such restrictive parenting laws.

how does an 18 year old highschool dropout buy 2 rifles, 60 mags, and 1657 rounds of ammo with noone noticing? where did he find and purchase 1657 rounds? how did he store the ammo and guns with no one noticing? why did he crash his truck in his own neighborhood enacting a plan? why did he bring 58 mags of ammo leave 15 at his truck and fire 22 shots when no one was following him? what bookbag can fit and support the weight of 31 loaded mags? how did the cop not see the shooter if he drove to the back of the building where the gunman entered? why would a teacher run back to her class to retrieve a phone and not tell anyone to lock their classrooms? why would you bring 58 mags and only enter the school with 11? how did he carry a rifle and 11 mags if his vest only holds 3 and the gun only holds 1? why is the only footage of an obstructed camera around a corner?
