Actually, sadly this is just America - we had weekly bomb threats one year in high school, 22 years ago and kids brought knives and guns into class and got asked to just put them away at my school, half the time we got evacuated we had no idea if there was an active shooter or just someone getting out of a test by calling in that they'd do it. That's America. Been that way my 34 years of life, parents described it as the same, and if we don't actually force change, probably will be that way when my kid has his own kids

Red Flags WHERE? If im in that elementary school and some guys shows up with a gun, theres no way to tell where that came from. Especially in the sea of posts in social media, with many more trolls and fakes than real actual threats. At the end of the day its best every school have their own defense in case this ever happened cause frankly theres no way to accurately predict it so everyone must be prepared to prevent it and intimidate any attack attempts in doing so.

The mother (who lives on the other side of town) left the shooter to live with the grandmother a couple of months ago because he would fight with her, too. The father is separated from the mother and works out of town. The father was also taking precautions from covid because his mother (the other grandmother of the shooter) is suffering from cancer and could not regularly see his son. The mother is on drugs and the grandmother was planning to kick her out of the house she was living in (the grandmother also owns the other house).

maybe because alcohol kills more people on average annually than guns do. at the end of the day you can't stop people from dying and while my condolences go out to the families I don't think these mass casualty events should dictate policy changes. I believe this is unwise as we amped up anti terror capability after 2001 and while one could argue they were effective or not the biggest cause for concern is how overbearing and abusive the government got with its newfound power. We don't want to believe in violence but unfortunately for us we have to embrace the violence good or bad.
