After seeing this video for the first time, I purchased a ww1 gurkha kukri from Thekhukurihouse. It was great, and I still have it, it has survived EVERY test so far and it is better than any hatchet I've used. I just recently placed another order on a Kukri, so now I will wait.

I had a Khukhri commissioned for me a few years back. It took a year to arrive. It is one of the largest in the world. Proud to say that I own it as it was born in Nepal. I knew the Ghurka squad at Sandhurst. I salute them and they salute me. I've never done much heroics in my life. But they are true heroes!

I watched a video on them being made and I tell you it's awesome just watching them make a complete Kukri from the leaf spring to the sheath. Your knife is a beauty. Thanks for sharing.

The two little tools are actually a small knife and a sharpener. The sharpener was never the way I would sharpen as it takes an extremely long time due to being metal against metal as opposed to ceramic, stone or diamond. So I am not missing anything there. And as for the small knife, I carry a SAK Craftsman which can do 10X what that little knife could. While they add to the authenticity, they really are just collectibles and nothing to miss. Go for the 3 Chirra.

I love this video!!! I bought a Mini Jungle and a Service No. 1 (Sarkhari Khukuri) from the Khukuri House and i am buying one for my dad since he is not believing my discription of how fanatastic these "Knifes" are. I trail ride on my Yamaha Super Tenere (adventure bike) through forests down in Florida and this is a great multi-tool for everything from clearing out routes, trees, bush, and good defense against boars if i cant get to my sidearm in time. I want a 3 chirra now

The wood they use to make the sheaths is cottonwood and the leather is two year old water buffalo and the steel is Mercedes-Benz Saab are Volkswagen truck leaf springs I worked in Nepal in 2010-16 teaching digital photography and one of my students wad a good friend and his brother worked at a blacksmith shop where they made swords and Khukuris I still have two Khukuris one is a MK 1 and the other is a Afghanistan combat Khukuri and I wouldn't take a million dollars for them

I bought the Khukuri Cowboy from Khukuri House, it is big and heavy but if I ever needed to hit some one, they would stay hit. It is well made and only cost me 65 dollars, and they had them in stock. Just looked over at Tora Blades, way over priced and every thing was on pre-order. So there you go. If you want a traditional Khukuri, for a price you can afford, Khukuri House has them, even military ones. Good video by the way.

these are great blades - i bought the current issue for the Gurkhas in Afghanistan right now - it is same as yours with a different handle - awesomee weapon - worth the money - needs better sheath which i bought and the handle needs better grip which i will machine into it - then it will be perfect - strike with the belly where all the power is buddy - each one is unique made for you - a true character - not two the same

It came somewhat sharp, but I noticed the sharpness was not totally consistent along the blade. Sharper at some points than others. I took my Lansky clamp system and using the 30 degree angle I put an even edge along the whole length, and now the thing is the 8th wonder of the world! I love it and plan to get other kukris from those people.

What machines? The steel is heated in an open stone hearth and hammered using anvil and tongs. The blade is sharpened by hand and the sheath is handmade and finished as well. I watched the video and the only piece of electrical equipment I saw was a hand drill for drilling the holes in the handle.

The edge that is closer to the handle is meant to be used for non-chopping tasks and is therefore sharper where as the end and larger part of the blade are meant to be used for chopping purposes so that is less sharp i think

Do you mean chopping the wood? Eventually all knives will dull with use, so you just resharpen them. I have already used my lansky clamp system on this kukri and used the 30 degree setting which is perfect for it. The kukri is sharp and ready for anything. This thing is impressive. They really know how to make a kukri over there in Nepal. This is the genuine article. Click the link under the vid and get yourself one too, you won't be disappointed.

How is the fitting of the handle on that thing? I got the Panawal Dotted recently, supposedly by the same manufacturer. I like the blade, but the handle is really poorly fitted and there are a lot of sharp edges where the wood doesn't fit the metal.

That was what I was thinking, I can't find one bad review of these kukris. It's definitely a "monday specimen", as we'd call it in this part of the world. So, what remains is to decide whether to fix the handle or keep it as it is. Whatever I'll do to it, it's going to ruin the authenticity, but I had hoped to be able to use it.

Also, the reason it took you so much time to cat the 2x4 in half, because it was flexing. You should have put it on solid ground, more stable resting place.

I was wondering what that cut out in the blade was so I googled. Kukri blades usually have a notch (kauda, kaudi, kaura, or cho) at the base of the blade. Various reasons are given for this, both practical and ceremonial: that it makes blood and sap drop off the blade rather than running onto the handle. that it delineates the end of the blade whilst sharpening; that it is a symbol representing a cows' foot, or Shiva. The notch may also represent the teats of a cow, a reminder that the kukri should not be used to kill a cow, an animal revered and worshipped by Hindus. So on..
@knivestown

It was fine. Once I placed the order I received an e-mail with a expected shipping and delivery date which was about 7 weeks out. Before that day came I had to go out of town unexpectedly and the trip overlapped right during the time the knife was to be delivered. I didn't want it sitting outside getting rained on and stolen, so I sent an e-mail asking for the shipping to be held another week. They were happy to oblige and all turned out well. The hardest part was the wait. :)

Churra means a bigger knife and churri means smaller blade. its named 3 churra because if you look at the pattern on the blade it looks like 3 blades pattern and by the way this knife is tougher than cold steel san mai and sk 5 kukri.

I don't think he meant to disrespect it, "funny" is often used informally in common parlance to describe something new, foreign or that you do not understand, without bias. People in the knife community have plenty of bias against China and some other countries for a plethora of reasons (can't say I agree with all of them), but I do not think I have ever, not even once, heard a knife enthusiast have a negative opinion of Nepal, Nepalis, or the culture of Nepal. On the contrary, I hear no end of positive comments. Khukuri buyers swear by them, travelers loved the country and its people, and people who served alongside Ghurkas all respect them No need for suspicion, we all love you guys ;)

WD-40 will kill that blade, it is a water displacement not a protectant. I do not have near the one that is, I use air tool oil or whatever i can find if i am in the field. Used motor oil works well in a pinch, just dunk it in!
