Thanks for the test! Wow, very high consumption with this speed. In my EV6 GT is the consumption in "normal mode" around 30kwh/100km when I am doing 150 kmh with cruise control on the Autobahn.
@MrHusern Жыл бұрын
Glad you did the 1000km challenge with this car :). The time wasn't to bad, the fast charging saved the thirsty beast. You probably know it, but you could use MY DRIVE mode, double press on the GT button. Then you can set suspension, ESC, steering to Normal, Power to Sport+ and still use cruise control and have full power like GT Mode :). The reason for the bad consumptions I think is because of the sticky performance tires and big wheels. I get around 10% better range with winter tires on the same 21" inch wheels. So if you can get 19"-20" inch wheels and EV tires you should see almost the same range as a GT-Line. One person reported to have almost the same range with 19" inch wheels that he first had on GT-Line and switched to a GT model and put the same wheels and tires on. But it's hard to find 19" that will fit the car, you could use spacers. I wouldn't change the tires yet, I like how sticky they are when driving spirited :). The GT model has double the inverters on the rear motor, 1 for high efficiency and 1 for high power. Driving normal will only activate the high efficiency inverter (probably the same as GT-Line have), driving that requires more power gets both invters activated. Link to the info about Kia EV6 GT inverters. www.hyundaimotorgroup.com/story/CONT0000000000084233

Yeah, the Kia has 585hp, 77.4 kWh is the gross value of the Kia and the MY actually has a 60kWh battery (if you wanna talk gross for net) and 295 hp, which isn't that bad, but it's a siginificant difference.
@patrickfavier4310 Жыл бұрын
@@FireballYT yeah.. but unlike fossils, the power difference of the electric drivetrain should not affect the efficiency. I commisioned 4 electric motors on a large navy vessel for propulsion summing up to 12MW of power that still had a 97%-98% efficiency. (Still meant a significant cooling installation though) net vs gross battery capacity.. ok, don't know the exact numbers, but KIA usually mentiones gross as well, so the 78 might be larger as well (e-niro advertised 64kWh actually is closer to 70)
@FireballYT Жыл бұрын
@@patrickfavier4310 Kia always advertises gross capacities, i.e. net of 77.4 kWh is 73 kWh. If you watch the vloggers who were invited to the "Kia Museum" upon Kia EV6 GT launch, they also showed off improved inverters which allowed them to apply double the power to the rear drive train, along with some other improved/added elements like, 2-stage motor sys tech, e-limited slip diff, improved rotational speed of the motors, reinforced internal cooling, hairpin winding method of the coils, all of these trim the car for perf instead of efficiency - my bet is, the empowered inverters are mostly responsible for the added consumption. That said, they could maybe improve something with a "chip tuning", so e.g., the car turns off the additional power output completely and acts like a regular EV6 AWD, so it provided "only" 325hp in non-GT modes, like the magic Tesla did with the Model S Plaid (not sure about the general efficiency of that beast, but it seems better, too).
@patrickfavier4310 Жыл бұрын
@@FireballYT Tesla model S plaid had a consumption of 255Wh/km per the same 1000km challenge. Model S plaid has 750kW, and thus a lot more HP than the EV6 GT with 304Wh/km. Efficiency has little to do with pure power.

However, he probably does not fully sense the cultural difference of native Europeans, because he constantly mentions that he has to take care of his physiological needs. You don't have to be a member of the royal family to find these confessions somewhat uncomfortable. Apart from that, however, Bjoern is doing a good job of popularizing, showing that BEV is not such a terrible devil as he is described by motoring portals and newspapers financed by German manufacturers of smelly diesels ;-) If I could dream of something else in addition to these tests, it would be for him to take a small seismograph on the passenger seat with him on the road and analyze its records in terms of suspension comfort - after all, most tests are carried out on the same routes and after some analysis and averages, it would be a good comparative material.

However, during my visits to Sweden, I got the impression that the Swedes tend to be more introverted and avoid direct references to personal matters. For example, 20 or 30 years ago, you did not meet young girls on the street who freely used language full of profanity, swearing or blunt expressions. This was considered incompatible with their social status. It was the same with conversations about more intimate personal matters - they just weren't talked about publicly, in a larger group. Now it's more and more different. Not that I'm complaining, that's not the point, I just notice it. It's just on the sidelines of the discussion about Bjoern's tests ;-)
