glad you liked the EV9. Thanks for such a great service on the PPF. Sorry about all the clobber in it. During the week I chauffeur my wife and her friend plus husband. So that’s 4 adults two wheelchairs and 2 German shepherds. All with load of room. At the weekend we have the 6 seats up the middle ones turned around so my wife can chat with the grandkids. We can still fit the wheelchair in the boot. Our 2nd EV and loving it.

Good even handed comparison again Richard ... I have a six seat EV9 right now which replaced my BMW iX and we moved for the extra seat and the more practical boot ... We have also had XC90 and Discovery before moving to EVs and right now there is nothing to touch the EV9 for passenger space and practicality .... I am over 6 foot and I have 3 5 foot teenagers who all agree that the EV9 is the most comfortable car in this 6 seat config that any of the others we have owned... We are keen to see the new Volvo EX90 but to be honest I dont think its going to be any bigger in the back and its got a massive price tag with starting price seeing to be at £99,000 !!! ... other than some personal badge snobbery which I am prone to the EV9 is an easy winner all round. I would be interested in a comparison with an actual modern Discovery ... not sure its quite as massive in the back but I may be wrong.... Thanks again for the excellent content

I thought the EV9 would be too big wallowy, but 10k later we love it and the size/seats/comfort are definitely worth it. It exceeded the official range in the summer, is sooo quick and corners better than it should really. I dont like the lack of steering feel or the mandatory "safety" aids, but otherwise it is brilliant. If it gets people out of big ICE SUVs it has done the humans a favour.
@recklessrogue90272 ай бұрын
I would never own such an enormous car but your videos always keep me watching. No matter how nice inside I couldn't own an IX with that face... especially given how much it costs. The EV9 offers incredible space and the Tesla would be the easiest to live with given the software, charging network and likely better efficiency.

Another cracking video Richard 👍... although dinosaur bone burning you can't deny that practicality 🤷♂️.

Land Rover really needs to fix the current Discovery with the ev version by going back to 4s design ethos. It's bloody brilliant, and I really want one... just without the high running costs! They would sell bucket loads of them if they nail it!

Practical advantage of the EV9, its less likely to burst in to flames in car parks

The most I have had in my model 3 is a 6ft x 4ft kitchen table and 4 kitchen chairs, I put a saw in as I was not sure they would come out again but a bit of Jenga and they did. Amazing ant there was still enough room for luggage for 2 for a week.

We have an iX in Abu Dhabi and in this market they are supplied with a spare wheel that is strapped down inside the boot! Because of this, we hardly have any boot space left!

If you need van sized boot space, buy a model 3 or similar, and on the 3 days a year you need a van sized transport - use your EV running cost savings to hire a van 😉

I’ve always thought the iX looks better in person and moving - I never hated it anyway and have had one for 18 months now. It’s fabulous and the interior is much nicer than the EV9 (but the boot isn’t big enough). Used to have a discovery 4 too and the iX is nowhere near as big in the boot

Interesting thought. It has taken decades of development to produce the LR Discovery, but Kia, in their 1st attempt at a large SUV, in just few years has very nearly matched it, with a BEV, who would have thought that would happen? what will the next few years bring?

@TerryHickey-xt4mf2 ай бұрын
It is the UK, you know! I did a visit in June from NZ and it made me appreciate how lovely and wide the so called 'B' roads are here. Of course there were no roads before the brits got here, and they had hundreds of years training in how wide a modern road should be. Having said that, we are getting more and more Silverados and Rams etc, as they are good for towing by tradies that need the extra grunt.
@dalex66412 ай бұрын
@@TerryHickey-xt4mf being from the UK I know our narrow roads well 😂 Doesn’t change the fact that these two EV trucks are the only really decently capable EVs for towing. Besides, @RSEV is an expert driver and I’m sure could handle them on British roads 👍

I also have a discovery on my drive, but mine has the failed engine option. Waiting for a company to start converting cars with airbags, abs, canbus etc. I know we can’t change the tax status from ICE, but come on someone sort the conversion electrics and drop a generic Fellten EV kit in there
@alexandersaksvoll53732 ай бұрын
I support your work and have been for years. But I fear that there are many viewers who will not make the change to an EV based on how you praised the practicality of the fossil car in this video. You make it seem like you need a fossil car if you wish to transport bigger items, which is not true. There are plenty of cargo EVs available which you forgot to mention, and you can always tow a trailer if you need bigger items. Tesla Bjørn has plenty of EV practicality tests, definitely worth a watch.
