Thank you so much for this video and info, my Niro's rear door handle small cover broke off and the whole handle came off just from normal use, it looks like this is a recall and a very common issue, design flaw. Quick question, did that handle cracked from outside impact? or was it cracked from pulling? which I would find hard to believe since the small cover would brake first before this severe handle cracking.

Awesome! My cover completely broke, this will save me from going to the garage to replace. I need the charcoal handle cover i don't see the PN on the list. where can i buy?

I used theirs to replace my broken cover, what a time and money saver. Only downside I was sent the wrong color, charcoal should be charcoal, No?

It's an easy enough repair to redo. If the sent you the wrong color, complain and get them to send you the right color. They'll probably let you keep the wrong part too...which you can keep as backup or optionally resell online.

thanks for your video BUT i need to replace the driver's side door handle. the little cap fell out that protects to electrical. is the process the same as the above video or more difficult? PLEASE HELP!

The part number will vary depending on the color, but here's a link to a webpage with many options (www.kia.parts/v-2017-kia-niro--ex--1-6l-l4-electric-gas/body--front-door). I haven't performed this procedure myself, but it looks a bit tricky. You need to remove the inside door panel to gain access to the door handle's connector (the connector connecting the wires from the door handle's lock button to the rest of the wiring harness). Even after you have removed the inside door panel, there is a secondary panel that can be tricky to remove. There's a short video on KZbin showing a guys struggling to remove the secondary panel (the panel inside the inside panel) kzbin.infoRADfJUDJVtQ?feature=share . To truly remove the secondary panel I believe you need to disconnect the window (steps not shown in that video), but...instead you may be able to reach your arm into the door from bottom of the secondary panel (the bottom of the secondary panel can be loosened). If your arm is long enough you may be able to blindly grab the connector and disconnect it (and reconnect the new handle). Eager to hear how this goes for you! Too bad they make it so difficult for the smart key lock handles:(!

This the same for the front? Somebody tried to steal mine and broke the driver's side tumbler

The front handle is a little different because of the key and the button. I imagine it's a bit more involved, but haven't had to do it myself yet. Sorry to hear about your predicament! Good luck with the solution!

I brought this issue to my Dealer and they claimed they were not honoring the recall anymore. Seemed kind of sketchy, but what's our recourse?

A quick Google search suggests that recall work should be covered within 10 years of purchasing the vehicle. This eeems like bad customer service and laziness on the part of the dealer. This is such an easy\cheap job you'd think they'd do it for you just to have the opportunity to sell you an oil change. Try calling Kia Customer Service at 800-333-4542. Maybe they'll call the dealership on your behalf. Or...if they give you a hard time too, then be thankful that this is such a cheap\easy fix and do it yourself.

How about the front? How do you get to the plug?

@@dirkhunt9425 By "get to the plug", do you mean the plug that covers the screw that holds the handle in place? Or do you mean the electrical connector attached to the handle?

@@hanoihancock I'm pretty sure he means the electrical connector, since he mentioned the smart key button and the light in the handle. At least, that's what I need to know. I tried following the repair manual, but I can't seem to get past the module plate.
