Just ordered my first ever electic car, a Niro 2 on contract lease for delivery around September this year. Watching this video cements the feeling I have made the right choice. The price point for the 2 was just right for me, the 3 might've put an extra 30 quid/month on the price. My quote for the 2 jumped by 20 quid as it was.... something to do with me ordering the first week of Jan. Anyway... roll on September!

I have to sort of agree with you Nigel, but it's not just Kia. Have you seen the pea-sized indicators on a Tesla Model 3? And I always failed to see the circular ones integrated around the brake lights of the L322 Range Rover. And as most people are braking as they are indicating, that was a big safety hazard in my book. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Had my '4' now for 3 weeks and done 1500 miles and it is a fantastic car. Such a big improvement over my previous Soul in terms of driving manners. Its feels like its 'grown up' Great review by the way. Just a couple of points. When referring to the charge rate, which I agree is the most disappointing aspect.of the new car, what is good is that the curve is flatter and there is battery pre conditioning included if you navigate to a charge point. And you didn't mention the HUD on the '4', or the V2L capabilities.
@AutoEV
@AutoEV 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't mention the HUD, you are correct. I try to avoid talking about specifics of other trim levels, otherwise the videos would be even longer! I did mention the V2L socket, but perhaps should have gone in to that more specifically, but I feel that everyone is probably now aware of what they are. Good point about the battery/charge rate however. Point noted.

The best mileage/Range I have had so far is 220 miles when it was still summer. Even in the depths of winter I'd still get at least 250 miles out of my old one... Disappointed. Nowhere near the 285 miles as advertised.

Very interesting re the range. We have an eNiro 3 and have done 265 miles quite easily. Very happy with it. I'd be v disappointed if a newer more expensive car had a shorter range. Loved my test drive of the Niro EV 4 spec. Very accomplished. It looks good too. Only thing that put us off was lack of 360 parking cameras, which I would have thought should be standard on such an expensive and largish car, slightly too much scratchy hard plastic inside and rather uninspiring body colour schemes. I would have bought one there and then, but just those few little things put me off. I think when you’re spending so much money (42k+) then even small compromises make a difference. The Cupra Born, which I also took for a test drive, is the same price with a much plusher finish and great looks. Now if Cupra or SEAT did an SUV style EV like this KIA…..

Maybe you can convince KIA to address the random keyless door button issue. It's been a problem since at least 2017 across all models. It's driving me NUTS, yet the dealership will not admit to a seven year defect. I keep bringing it in and they blame me for not pushing hard enough or long enough as if I'd never had keyless entry in my life. This is supposedly a small issue, but it's really, really, frustrating and will cause me to look elsewhere if they continue to kick the can down the road.

We have a 72 plate NiroEV 3. Our first EV. From the EV driving experience it’s just fine. Range is not a problem, performance is excellent, comfort and space is excellent, BUT, and it’s a massive BUT, the ‘tech’ is just full of glitches and bugs, parking sensors not working, front scanner’s forever ‘check your distance scanners’, check this, check that. Climate control both air con and heating failure. No it is not, unless you need extra boot space and some gadgets (ventilated seats, glass roof etc.). You sacrifice a huge improvement on DC speed (150 vs 83), LFP battery (5 times longer lifespan and %100 charging possible each time). These two in my opinion just kill it. MG 4 is the bestseller EV in the UK as far as I know.

Great review, many thanks! The car is in my short list but the only downside to me is the rear space - it doesn't look big enough for a RWF child seat for a 3-year-old while having a 180 cm person in the front. And it's all due to these integrated "coat hangers" in the front seats. And they don't look safe for adults in case of a front collision either.

I have the Mk1 (4+). Got it on a lease 18 months ago and it was my first EV. I have to say I would hate to have to go back to an ICE car as I love almost everything about it. The styling is one of the things I would change if I could, but I'm not a fan of the new one, especially the headlights which look horrendous, although not as bad as the new Sportage which has to be one of the ugliest cars ever made! The extra space in the new car would be very welcome, as would the extra tech, but I feel they've missed an opportunity not including wireless Apple carplay and Android Auto which would be handy for short distances when you can't be bothered to plug your phone in. Would I 'upgrade' to the new model? No, definitely not! Would I have one if I were at the end of my lease? Hmm, I'm not sure. One of the big negatives is the still too slow charging compared to other new ev's. But you can't ignore Kia's quality. It would be a tough decision.

Got a 22 kia Sorento hybrid s AWD and what a beautiful classy looking total piece of shit. It's still in the shop since may 25th! Kia lost me yesterday as I got sick of waiting for my piece of shit Sorento and found a 22 Honda CR-V touring. I hate Hondas warranty of 3/36000 but then again....I don't expect it will break down and sit in the shop for 4 months and then still not know what's wrong.

Hi. Are the seats all black fake leather? Or is that a grey colour in the middle? The old car was all black and I liked them seats. Great review of the car so thanks for that👍. It’s helped me for sure and I’m gonna go for a k4. Cheers.

electric socket should be at the rear, or why not both. people reverse into their drive , or should do for safer exit so home charging at rear is best
@Dreadpirateflappy
@Dreadpirateflappy Жыл бұрын
i disagree. for people who live in closed roads most people tend to park in forwards as they can easily reverse out, maybe it's only people who park on main roads that reverse park. With it being on the front it doesn't matter which side he charger it's on.

It is greater in terms of look and quality but mediocre DC charging speed and roughly zero improvement on the soundproofing compared the first generation makes it less of an attractive EV. Moreover; it still has lithium-ion battery. New EVs are coming with LFP batteries. It has serious competitors nowadays and price-wise it cannot compete with them, in my opinion.

I think they stayed pretty average overall. Not much more that the old one. 17" is a bit small nowadays. Worst pitty is that the CCS is not on par. High milers won't get best use out of it. For daily Joe it's good enough. Due to ICE platform the nose is too large for my taste.
@1derekwinter1

I reckon the ‘nose’is one of the cars best features.Larger wheels would compromise the efficiency of the vehicle.
@RedBatteryHead
@RedBatteryHead Жыл бұрын
@@1derekwinter1 It's not the wheel size om its own. It's the drive ratio. Many on 18 and 19 run efficient too.
