Bryan, which would you recommend for a 3-person family (one a 6 foot tall 17 year old boy)? Megane E-tech or Cupra Born? Genuinely interested as they are my shortlist at the moment. Thanks.

I’d have to say the Cupra is much bigger in the rear than the Megane. If space is your priority in terms of cabin space, has to be the Cupra. The Megane drives better, but the Born has much more interior space. I’ve also just tested the new Born VZ - video coming soon…..(well worth watching)

One car doesn’t make the rest of the company’s efforts worthwhile. The GT coupe, the 146, 147, the Mito, the Brera a were all behind class best.

nice little car. I like the presenters' enthusiasm about size / space relationship. On the recycling note however, the Romanian car manufacturer Dacia (Renault Group 😁) is also emphasizing on the recycled plastics used in all of their models, not just the electric or hybrids. Maybe you have heard, maybe you didn't

I know that I am becoming a bit of a stuck record on this but I do think BMW needs to work on how it is using the electric power: the EV database suggests one is going to average something more like 180 miles from the bigger battery Aceman.

I love this car. I bought it after much research including all of your reviews which were really helpful. My first journey was picking up the car from Bridgend in Wales and driving it back to Kent. I started with 193m range (minus 1, winter), charged once at Reading sevices back up to 80% (about 22mins) and made it home with 60 miles of range still available. 4 days on and I have to say it’s one of the best cars I have ever owned (in the past few years I’ve had an Volvo cross country V90, an Ionic 5 and a Hyundai Tucson); it drives like a peach and is so comfortable on the motorway. Whilst the range can be disappointing I do have a home charger and i’m finding it very easy to top up over night for a few hours on cheap rate. I’m so impressed with the ride, handling and google interface. I thought the rear visibility was going to be a problem but even without the electronic rear view switched on I’ve completely adapted to it. I test drove the scenic, which is absolutely lovely, but I just didn’t find the drive as engaging however, it is so lovely that i’m hoping it will be our second car soon. Anyho, thank you Auto EV for your great reviews; you swung the balance for me.

As an owner of 6 minis now , 4 coopers and now on our second countryman currently in a exclusive model and only 18 months old , tomorrow we are test driving the aceman sport se your right , any media pictures you see of any new mini they all look rubbish , but in the flesh they look so much better , but I am struggling with the looks of the aceman , I feel you have to have the aceman sport to get the best looks , especially from the rear with the bigger roof spoiler and the bottom defuser , but the price is not sitting right for especially as it has a small battery and range , we have driven the vw id3 , cupra born , the Volvo ex30 , I like the new Renaults , Meghan and scenic e-tec but looking at price , value for money combined with insurance costs it’s the. Volvo that’s winning atm .trouble is we both do like the mini interior, and the Volvo is pretty plain , the whole ev experience is a very new thing for us , I’ve taken the plunge and should have my new vw I’d buzz cargo next month , which I am very much looking forward to, the driving of the ev is a real nice smooth driving experience, certainly makes ice engines quite Jurassic I feel . Any another great informative video 👍

One thing very few reviewers seem to appreciate is that PSA uses TomTom maps and data services for their onboard navigation. It is INFINITELY better than any other built-in nav. They don’t force you to log into Google’s services and have the world’s largest ad company know exactly where you go, yet it provides meter-precision traffic information and rerouting.

"Is this the car that can save Alfa Romeo?" has been the question at the beginning of countless reviews of every single Alfa entering the market throughout the last 50 years, at least. Short answer: It won't. Because it won't sell. No more than 9 out of ten Alfas of the past. Same story over and over again: great reviews in the first wave of tests, in the second wave the banging begins. No matter what, nobody is bying it. 5 to 7 years after it's life cycle 9 out of 10 car journalists will tell us how underappreciated this Alfa had been in its days. Alfa won't die and it won't flourish either. Alfa Romeo is to the car industry what Zion is to the Matrix: It will never win, but the Matrix won't let it die 'cause it needs Alfa Romeo. 🤫

This was a car I considered, but on paper it came across as a worse, more expensive EX30. As it's the lower range, slower charging, slower acceleration, and more expensive options.

What only a few reviewers of the p4 have mentioned, with regards to one of the advantages of having the rear camera, is that the field of view you get looking in the digital rear view mirror is about 30 degrees WIDER, than looking out of a normal rear view mirror and through the rear window. It’s actually a significant safety feature. In addition…..in a normal car, if you had dogs in the back, or stuff loaded up that could obstruct your view from the rear….you have none of that with the view from the external camera.

I tested the Aceman recently too. I would have liked to like it more. The exterior design works well. I am a fan of the round OLED screen too. However the interior needs to feel more premium for me. The weave effect on the dashboard and doors looks good but feels rough to the touch. And the whole thing feels quite stripped down and bare. I would have liked the car much more if it gave more of a lux feel inside. Not for me unfortunately.

Still not convinced. It may do everything apart from cooking your 99p microwave dinner but the price is as usual the one of many reasons why I wouldn’t part with a penny of my money. I’m not interested in any of the bells and whistles I am only interested in running costs reliability and more importantly cost and this is another over priced moving explosion in the making . Another ev which will be out of the reach for most people due to the overpricing Now that is the reality of this thing. Nice colour though !!

Going though the last 18 months of my leased BMW i3S, it is clear that the lower specs car is just the same engine and battery in a different form, pity it’s now a front wheel drive. Also surprised the boot is not larger as it’s not much of an improvement, despite the extra length. And the range of the 184 hp variant doesn’t really cut it going forward. The larger battery car could be the next, but then prices get really high, and get into BMW territory, as well as AWD EVs. Still time to test and think…

A good choice presenting a red one. Petrol Ped’s review featured a dark grey example and was getting a very high level of hate in the comments for the way it looked. The contrast between the chunky SUV add ons and the red body colour make the proportions and overall design appear much better. The 4 door design of the Aceman is more appealing than on a regular Mini which just looks stretched in a lazy and bad way. I agree that this is the ‘Goldilocks’ Mini and actually used that term commenting on Peter’s video. A lot of the Mini purists think anything post 2000 with BMW input isn’t a real Mini so there’s not much hope for accepting an electric one with Chinese underpinnings is there? I’d agree it’s too pricey and the ‘option packs’ are a bit of a con. Another 50 miles range would also broaden the appeal. However, I’m not a purist and I actually quite like its appearance and if it drives like a Mini without the crashy ride it’s something of a miracle.

My GT coupe wasn’t that’s great to drive. And that’s my point. I loved the way it looked, but just found it dull to drive. Would have been a bit more enjoyable with a Busso V6 I’m sure, but mine was a 2.0JTS. Same with 147s. Decent looking, but hardly thrilling to drive unless you had a GTA.

A few months ago I was walking around South Derbyshire and saw a Mini Clubman on the driveway of a posh street, so I went onto the Mini website and there was a photograph of a Mini Clubman with red/brown metallic paint and it looked very stylish and premium. I know that EVs have to be higher because of the batteries under the floor, but I don't think that I could live with the new Aceman. It reminds me of the Fiat 600 with non-metallic red paint and a bland body. Some EVs look very boxy with terrible colours and the Aceman looks similar. Where is the design flair? What has happened to the paint, cars tend to be greyish or with negligible pigmentation? A car of this price should have metallic paint. I wouldn't buy one, but the MG4 is nicely styled and the red paint really looks good. I thought that technology was supposed to make life more exciting and interesting, but I cannot say that about the exterior styling of a lot of new EVs. I am not sold on the round screen and it won't benefit from being rotatable like some BYDs. Maybe it is because I am a retired old git and I know that you will not like this, but I would rather go for a skiing white/urban grey BYD Dolphin Design. Even though I am not a fan of grey, the other colours are worse.

I’m looking at a Junior once it is released in Australia. Thank you for such a thorough review. I’m one who appreciates how a car drives, not how many gimmicks it has for the driver and passengers. With four other Alfas in my garage including my Sud and 4C driving dynamics are the priority. Those who can’t feel anything when they grip the wheel won’t care but those who do I hope will give the Junior a look. You’ve also provided food for thought for the option packages to order. Lightness counts. This is the sort of efficient and fun car I’m looking for. Please Alfa, price it competitively….As a Giulietta owner I hope there is still that incentive that Imperatu spoke of at the launch.

Can't understand why manufacturers insist on "three" seats in the back when it's clear that there really is only room for two. Far better getting rid of that centre seatbelt/buckle combo and creating two, slightly larger and more comfortable seats. Minuscule door bins and no arm rest = a no-no. You say it looks better in the flesh. I hope so for Mini's sake, because to my eyes (based on viewing various reviews/first looks on YT) it's ugly,, ugly, ugly.

Have you been paying any attention to what he is saying about the driving experience? I consider that far more important than the external appearance. As for the interior, I think it looks great and apparently it is very comfortable. The only thing that doesn’t appeal to me is the round screen but it certainly seems very functional. I’m certainly not shopping for a new car but I can certainly see the potential of this one.

Again Hyundai have missed the main point of why EVs are not doing so well in the UK. They need to be cheaper, we can put up with basic cars without numerous electronic rubbish in it. This car which is basically a suzuki ignis should be £ 18k for the basic model, £ 21 for the long range and then add a couple of grand for the higher spec ones. Its a decent car but they just havent got it rigth, especially when you can buy a dacia jogger or sandero with very high equipment levels for less money.

I guess the same people that consider 'stunning' the Tonale and the Stelvio (which are actually sub par designs) are also consider 'stunning' this 'turbulance in mind' design... ok, looks is a subjective matter no doubt about that, and if the ONLY purpose is to 'stand out' yes it is achieved.... but the objective comment is that STILL Alfa Romeo lacks a design identity... this Junior has absolutely no design relevance with Stelvio and Tonale (whereas Tonale was clearly a scaled down Stelvio - and this was not necessarily a good thing)... ok, let's consider it a 'new start'... but ... really.... is this how you would REALLY like ARs to look like from now on???? REALLY??? And getting out of the looks... as I have commented many times in similar cases, AR was famous for being the 'sport brand of the masses', making good looking sport driven cars at reasonable (not cheap but still reasonable / affordable) price and always offering something more than competitors... recent ARs are CERTAINLY not 'reasonably priced' and they do not seem to offer anything 'different' as such... so they focus on looks nad they do so ina strange (rather than revolutionary) way . I do believe Stellantis is simply too eager to cash out the brand value by addressing to AR enthousiasts (alfisti) that would buy and AR badged cat 'no matter what' ... but in that way they are actually destroying the brands' future (not that they really care about it probably...) . PS when I hear the commentator I do feel like he is reading a marketing leaflet from Stellantis...
