Glad Kia came through for U and you remain happy with your vehicle. I’ll be doing 2025 Niro HEV SX test drive next week.

Thanks for the report. Strange problem, the only reason I can think of for an insulation issue would be heat from the current flowing between the battery and the inverter. That seems unlikely but what else could it be? Glad you got it fixed under warrantee.

I really don't know. When it comes to heat as the culprit there's gotta be some heavy load on the system at work .... one would imagine. I work in a pretty rugged environment, but even then, I'm cautious and am mindful of ground clearance and how to find it on all my 14,459 miles. Scratching my head on this. Going to do a video recording the entire underside of the car so everyone is aware of what is protected and what is vulnerable in the system. This cable should be protected from terrain assault. Maybe I'll do this video next. OK, thank for thinking about this. Still love this car. Was fun to drive today.

I'm thinking manufacturing defect that took a while to show up. He saw a couple intermittent check-engine lights before, I don't know if those might have been early indicators of this issue.

Had the same problem on a 10 year old BMW i3 - it was a $2000 cable... Difference is that BMW did not have a megger - I did ask about it.

Any idea how much to replace the battery for this car?
