This car fits in a segment that Tesla does not have a product for, and this segment is popular and large in the US. The Rivian R1S also competes in this segment.

My worry with these is the same worry I have with Hyundai Ioniq 5. That being if you need a battery replacement these cars are not made in the USA or even north america (logistics for replacement parts). Ioniq 5 has multiple reports of dealerships in Canada charging more for a battery replacement then the Ioniq 5 is worth new. I imagine that will apply to some degree in the USA as well.

My opinion, Hyundai badly managed it and it's temporary (From Hyundai spoker). That the price will come down in short term they said, Hyundai want to make battery in America too, and too built repair facilities. This said 2 reported case in Canada for now (About Ioniq 5 that hit debris on the road, damaging battery shell). It's why both case, insurance reimburse them. Why personally I don't fear? Now, how many got sold in Canada? In USA? Just in USA Hyundai sell over 30 000 per year Ioniq5, without talking about all others model (Ioniq 6 and all the Kia). Very small margin got this trouble yet and it's why Hyundai said they have no volume yet, to justify a repair center. (In my opinion, bad decision, since this bring fear and bad reputation as this case.)

I am a Tesla owner, and wanted a CT, but after the price increase, I can not afford it. But I have seen that the KIA EV-9 is a worthy and excellent EV, and will be even better when it gets the NACS Charging Port. Once it is offered, I will buy it. I like the Space, the quality, the specs, and reliability of late KIA Models that have FANTASTIC WARRANTIES. In my family there is one 2014 Tesla, a 2007 KIA Sedona, and one 2014 and one 2019 KIA Souls, and ALL OF THEM HAVE WORKED FLAWLESSLY so far!!!! So KIA, keep on producing your good quality cars and excellent warranties!!!!!

Here in Florida up and down the turnpike there are actually a lot of 350Kw chargers... Additionally Electrify America has been replacing a lot of their chargers for 350Kw chargers. With that said if you actually take a look at the voltage on the bigger battery I'm fairly certain that the bigger battery is actually going to charge slower than the smaller battery.

From the TCO point of view EV are far away from outdated ICE we now used for 100 years without thinking about how we have been cheated and enslaved by insecure and politically dangerous energy sources. Only Tesla really has a vision and a plan and the rest still struggles around cars only which the most only partially produce themselves. But on customers side only 35% of people really know what e.g. their mostly leased car costs. So they have no money and will never have complaining about EV pricing. In fact my 70‘000 USD Kia EV6 in Switzerland costs half of the next really comparable car brand. But after TWO years of driving electric the costs compared to previous similar potent ICE in that premium car class has been reduced by 50% already and I have not only two but seven years of warranty! I had not the slightest issue with my very first Korean car. In 54 years driving mostly German, Italian and French premium I never had any car with no problems after delivery and all that took MY TIME and money even when under warranty. As a consultant I was paid by day and therefore lost much money with all my previous ICE, then also serious servicing was always necessary in Europe and mainly Switzerland. Not to compare with countries where people do not care but complain about quality when not filling up oil or change filters etc. Also with an electric there are necessary items to service but with the Kia in my case only this year for the first time.😂

It doesn't have a tesla charge connection does it? I'm also not opptomistic since if you scratch the bottom by going over a rock they will charge you 50k for a battery replacement and not cover it. This has happened to at least 2 different customers. Kia though is positioning themselves to survive as long as they come up with a system to support battery replacement at a reasonable cost.

It's called insurance, they were written off customers got the money then they decide if they want another Hyundai or Kia. The EV9 has V2X so if they change to NAC they will lose that feature.
@MH44444
@MH44444 4 ай бұрын
You really don't know the case I'm referring to. Minor damage that more than likely didn't damage the batteries in both cases ended up total losses because Kia didn't want to sell a battery at a reasonable cost, or even worse have a protocol to beable to inspect a battery to evaluate damage. Yes in the end it will be an insurance problem when people's rates double or triple because of this.

Affordable? Main problem is manufacturers making ev's for rich people. It is hard to repair, insure, size is to big, to complicated, to much electronics and features, to much software, to much patent rights, decreased right to repair. Easy battery replacing and recondition, free software update, should be mandatory. The price for the family sized EV should not be more than 30k. The cost of maintenance and insurgence of ev should be half of ICE. Regulator did not do the job.

Honestly Toyota has a more than 20 year head start on EVERYONE including Tesla bc they’ve had EV motors and batteries in their industry-leading hybrids for 2 decades so… if ANY company should have been first with EVs it’s Toyota. The fact that they STILL can’t produce a decent EV is so inexcusable at this point so…. Yeah I just don’t think you have a point here unfortunately … GM is another company that had an EV decades ago but they never did much with it .. Toyota sold a TON of EV drive trains in their hybrids for 2 very strong decades of hybrid Toyota sales so, what’s their excuse? They have none! Inbred grandson of legendary founder?
