I replaced my starter today, this video was 100% on point , I did not have to loosen the exhaust , I did remove the sensor from the pipe , the heat shield is the hardest part to move , I pushed it upwards toward the oil filter and used a shim to move it around , a slight bend to the corner by the 10 mm screw helped shift it out , I purchased the new starter on ebay with shipping it was 50.00 , not a rebuilt . NEW . I used 1 jack stand on the passenger side of the van , I did not remove the engine cover or air filter assembly, only the air dam extension , took a total of 2 hours with a coffee break . I would say its not very difficult , just the shield is a pain .... a 10mm socket, a 14 mm socket , two extensions short and long , and a knuckle on the driver , thanks again for this great video ....

@mattweibert607 жыл бұрын
PIANOSTYLE100 i used a floor jack from the front on the frame. i had to cut down a two by 4 to give a little space between the floor jack plate and a few bolts or something that was just barely in the way to get a good lift on it. i then placed my jacks stands near the connecting point on the A arms. this supported the van very well.

Something else I forgot to mention in my video and had done prior to the video is to remove what I believe is the O2 sensor from off of the muffler. This needs to be removed so it does not get broken off and to access the starter better. You can see the hole in the muffler in the video and this is where the O2 sensor is located.

Idaho_Weibert_60 Yes, it helped. I did not have to disassemble anything up top except the battery I could not get to that nut that's hid near the motor mount tbr one in front was easy enough and someone already moved the heat shield so I didn't have to unbolt the manifold to get mine out... However EVERY one of those shield bolts twisted off on me! I did have to remove the manifold bolts on the one at pick in pull tho. My next adventure will probably be a tune up which in tells pulling the plantum

Joanne Elmore sorry for the late reply. busy life. i was also trying to talk with a mechanic friend of mine as i dont believe there is a way to adjust the idle on an vehicle with Electronic fuel injection. i think just on older carburetors. my buddy agreed and said there might be an adjustment screw on the throttle body where the throttle cable attaches. he said with EFI if you are having idle problems it might be an air leak. having a dirty or bad MAFS can also cause problems with the sensor not registering a proper air mixture.

Hello Becky. So sorry for the late response please forgive me. In my opinion I would say it is not your starter. your starter is only responsible for starting your engine. i would lean more towards either an altenator or possibly fuel problem. so you are aware i am not a mechanic, but my opinion is based on my experience with repairing my own vehicles. i have had multiple vehicles die after starti g due to the alternator going out. hope this helps. what year and make vehicle is it? let me know what you find out.
