Thank you. I had to go to an automotive parts store to purchase a half inch drive 27 mm 6 sided socket. I had the 17 mm combination wrench with a 10 in Long cheater pipe to remove the drain plug. I have a 2019 Kia Sorento LX V6 all wheel drive. My filter housing is now on the bottom of the engine. I took a Dremel tool and cut out a door to remove the filter cap. I heated up a sharp pointy awl and made a small hole in the what now is a door so I can take a quarter inch by half inch long sheet metal screw and use it of a way of securing my trap door for filter housing access. Thanks to my wife and her Andy Dremel tool.

Just bought a 13 SX yesterday to replace a prior Sorento my son had an accident with last month. I was surprised by the extra 101 hp the 6 cylinder has compared to the 4 cyl. I had no idea about the oil filter on the 6 until watching this video. Thank you for the heads up! Now to go outside and do it! Great video!

When installing the oil filter cap on a 2018 V6 3.3L Sorento, I find it hard at first screwing it back on due to the short stem pipe inside cap ... I am 100 % I'm not cross threading the cap ... is there another step for top of filter before installing filter cap ... Thanks for any answers :0)

mine leaking from Oil Filter Housing ...replacement cost is 580.00. Not easy to get to on a 2016 (replacing the oil filter housing)....let me say again, it's not easy to do, in fact, I don't know how I'm going to do it. It's probably just the housing gasket flattened out in there. SO yea, going to be a real bummer trying to replace it. I'll try to make 100% sure its not oil filter rubber o-ring but ugh. not looking forward to this. Dealer says lower oil pan is also leaking.... probably not going to be fun to replace that either as I believe it's the RTV stuff you have to put on it (probably have to let it set up before tightening bolts, also I'm probably going to need a 500 dollar (USD) torque wrench. DO you think I can get to the lower oil pan gasket repair with just some ramps (enough clearance under the car?). Right when the car went over 60K miles, all of this happened, ugh.

Still 'preciating the video you made. I've got a 2012 3.5 V6 Sorento, one year older than yours. Are you still driving the 2013? I had to replace my LR hub assembly due to speed sensor short out. Dealership charged $500+ but I got a refund b/c I complained to corporate citing a related Voluntary Service campaign. Now in 2021, I had to replace the RR hub assembly for the same sort of sensor short out - paid a reputable shop $360 for the job. I'm still liking my 2012 Sorento. Just wanted to hear if you still have yours. You gifted us all a great video!

Still got it. I need to change all the fluids again soon, but other than that, it’s still rock solid. Just about at 100,000 km on the odometer

Great video. I noticed that it calls for 5.5 quarts, which is 5.2 liters. I was bang on oil level with 5.2 liters

I just use a 5L jug, then top it up until it reads full. I probably don’t even have to do that considering it’s still in the cross hatch, I’m just a crazy OCD person lol

should be very similar, they are still using the same basic engine architecture just with direct injection

@@6speeddakota FYI on the 2019, the filter is on the underside of the vehicle. Maybe to accomodate for the new transmission. Your tips are still useful though. Thanks again!

@@Haigotron I didn't bother taking out the 2010 mm bolts I just cut myself a door to take out the filter housing and use a half inch long by 3/16 sheet metal screw to keep my trap my door back up. I also cut out access with a Dremel tool for my drain plug. There is no way I'm going to take 20 bolts off just to take my oil out.

The aluminum washer goes on the drain plug. Just make sure you remove the old one first

My 2014 Sorento is 290hp. Crazy power. Will pull 3500 lbs. Why?

You’ve got the GDI engine, they have a bit more power. Pulling 3500lbs isn’t an issue, the brakes are lacklustre when towing though
