Kia Sportage - HOW TO - Front Bumper Removal

Thank you for this. Had to remove my front bumper to reattach the passenger collision sensor. These sensors brackets are heat welded to the bumper. Car only had 2,000 miles on it when it detached. The local dealer wanted $700 to repair it saying it wasn’t covered by warranty and the bracket was broken. When I took the bumper off, thanks to your video, it was clear the heat weld failed. I used jb weld plastic binder to reattach. Sent pictures before I did the repair to the dealer and they said to bring it back, it would be covered under warranty. Nice, after I removed the bumper to confirm what I thought happened. Thanks for a great video. Start to finish was less than an hour to remove and reattach the bumper. Left the bumper off overnight to let the jb weld cure.

I figured stuff like this would occur and so I thought to make the video just so people can do and fix things themselves regardless of the people's dumb comments on the Facebook group criticizing me for taking the bumper off especially on a new car. So I really appreciate your good feedback!

This is such good timing. My sensor got dislodged when driving and the dealer also wanted $700 to repair! Out of interest: have you found any material, diagrams, or *anything* about these sensors? I can't tell if there's a better way to try to get it back into the slot without having to take the whole bumper off and the internet hasn't been great for this problem.

Does this mess with the speed control radar calibration?

@@Charleytheretriever no, the sensors are installed on the metal impact bar instead on the plastic outside bumper. The sensors stay in place and are not removed.

Does the silver trim in the top of the grill is removable ?

I did not check to see if there are clips in the back to remove the trim. Sorry.
