My friend just had her Sportage dump all it's oil on her parking spot. Exactly the same spot as yours was leaking. Thanks for posting this. It gave me the information I needed to decline assistance and send her to a real mechanic.

Big Thumbs up. I do so hate working on these new cars and trucks. It seems the engineers had a plan to put everything imaginable in the way and then put more on top of them. Very glad you got that repair over. Has always I am looking forward to your next video. Bobby

Holy shit? My 2001 soortage is leaking a significant amount of oil. I think I am just going to keep it topped off. This repair would be over a thousand bucks easily to have a mechanic do and I don't want to spend my whole summer fixing it. They definitely make these vehicles unnecessarily difficult to work on.. excellent video though 👌
@randallwhalen32398 ай бұрын
Yours would be a lot easier because it's rear wheel drive.

If you don’t want to cut the exhaust bracket the bolts can be removed with a metric offset box wretch. I picked up a set at harbor freight for the purpose. Still challenging but doable, haven’t put it back on yet, still have that fun ahead of me.

Had to replace oil pump in my 2006 V6 Sportage, drive and timing belt out, starter, alternator out, A/C unbolt, however exhaust was easy, why can't Kia make sump gaskets? Cheers from Australia.

Good video.You really had a job there. I have a car like that ,same motor,even same color. I replaced the timing belt and water pump which was extensive I thought. I don't think I could do all you did. Any how,I never did understand where the little tab on the back of the belt tensioner went. I couldn't find a slot for it so I probably didn't get it right but its lasted 30,000. I hope I never am faced with what you had to do.

Hello I am doin a bottom end rebuild on my Kia Sportage 2.0 diesel removed oil pump to clean and it is cog driven do you no if I have to get it timed back up before putting back on thanks
@JoDaddysGarage6 жыл бұрын
I can't say for sure. If it's cog driven, I doubt it needs to be "timed", but I can't guarantee it.

man - 3 weeks after doing the water pump, timing belt and tensioner on my 2.0 KIA I have oil in this area.... man I wish I had just replaced the front cover gasket - I gotta do it all again I suspect. pain in the butt.
@hydraulics6 жыл бұрын
took another look in there today - pretty sure my leak is just the front crank seal - ordered it and hoping when I get in there I am right. I need a new dampener anyways - from salty winters. If not, the consolation is that our Spectra5 subframe looks like it will allow removal of the oil pan. thanks for this video.

+Jo Daddy's Garage im the same way and I agree but they're is a limit, I have a 2000 sportage that I was suckered into with a warped crank snout from an idiot at a garage I got it from not torqueing the crank bolt, I had to take it apart and pretty much just put it back together "better" and torque the crank bolt to spec. the harmonic balancer/pulley still wobbles a little, it needs a new crank but honestly just isn't worth it, nice job on this one

Umm you showed us nothing, like all repair videos on here. Show it broken in one clip next clip it is taken off (not shown how) and next clip new part in.

I guess I could have placed a few cameras around, and tried to make a 24 hour video. There are 2 parts, and I was pressed to get it done. You're right though, I could have done a better job, if I had more time.
