In this video we have Alex Kia Venga with a locking and unlocking gremlin problem and leaving the front passenger door unlocked most of the time , after a few tests it was easy to blame the door lock . Cheers to Alex for popping by and more to come replacing the rear lock soon.

I have this same problem on my 2010 Venga. The rear passenger door is the one that's primarily affected. Thanks very much for this video.

This is a common problem on renault cars also,i reccomend use wd40 into lock mechanism directly spray in to electric motor and gears if they are closed by plastic box dril it on a safe corner and spray wd40 into it and drive mechanism by hand than usually they works.i reccomend try it before buy a new one

That’s a good shout and I believe what is happening with the rear door , now the front left actuator motor wasn’t working most of the time when I pressed the switch to lock or unlock it didn’t make any noise like it was trying to turn I believe the motor was bad 👍

My boot won’t open from the outside and the entire central locking is not working. I had to go through the back doors to access the mechanism to open the boot but still can’t lock the car. Appreciate the help. Thanks Kia Venga 2013

I have the same problem as you on a 2006 Venga, in that the rear passenger side door refuses to lock. Weirdly, it does lock, when pressing the locking button on the central console and/or it (and the rest of the doors) lock when the car reaches over approx 10MPH. This indicates that the actuators are fine. What I have found, but you didn't mention in your video, is that there is an extra component - that of the push switch in the door frames. I have discovered that if I push this switch in, as far as it will possibly go, with my finger or the end of the key, then the door/actuator locking noise is different and the door actually locks. I think the noise difference is that the actuator is deciding that the door is not actually closed, so therefore reverts the lock engagement - which is similar to what you can hear in your video. It is not a faulty door frame switch, as if I swap it with the switch on the other side of the rear, the problem remains with the same door (i.e. the problem doesn't change side). The door frame switches are one wire - so I guess they either switch to ground, or there is some sort of one wire signalling or capacitance thing going on here - particularly that this door only locks if the door frame switch is pushed in by a finger (or a key held in the hand). If I put those stick-on door cupboard bumps on the door, so that the frame switch is pushed all the way in, that doesn't work - only my finger does. A final bit of weirdness, is that the technique of pushing in the frame switch, does not work after a journey over over, say, 50 mins. This door refuses to lock for about 15 mins. So while you fixed the problem by changing the door locks/actuators, for me, there is something else going on here - and I am yet to figure out what. It was a great video though - really informative - if only to warn me (not a very good car engineer) probably best to not take the door apart - unless I really, really, have to...

I have the same problem in my Kia Venga 2010, but it is the driver door wouldn't lock at all, the rest does , I had to lock the door with 🗝️ key. After watching this video there is no way I am going to fix it, mechanics where I am are astronomical charge, thanks for the video, the car almost 60000,km it was my dad's ones, and I am still student I dont have that badged 😢

How's she goin'? It's hard to trouble shoot a single fault, but when you have multiple faults, like the front and rear door locks both messing up, well that derails the effort somewhat eh!! Nice job though and now a rear lock and you'll be all set. Take care!!!

When I did a full scan it didn’t show any codes than when I selected the central electrics module I didn’t have the option for trouble code , really weird 👍

VAGs tend to do the same, sometimes it takes ages for the lock unit to throw DTCs after the actual lock fault appears. Guess it takes some lock/unlock cycles for the fault to be registered.
