I considered getting it (though I'd mostly avoided sugar the past few weeks) and I checked the nutrition info underneath, thinking I could do an extra workout to compensate. 860 cals and 35 grams of fat. I put that thing down quick and walked away. No way was I gonna consider such a thing again. Though I love working out now (I actually don't feel human if I don't get my morning workout in), it would take hours to undo that damage, my stomach would hate me for the quick sugar rush and I'd get nauseous, my sleep would be interrupted and I'd overdo it on dinner and mess up all the progress I'd made the past week. Nope, not gonna throw a monkey wrench like that in when the scale is finally going down instead of back and forth on the same .4 lbs.

The man dies and goes to heaven and says to God, “Lord why didn’t you save me, I prayed and praised you and asked you to save me.” And God replied, “What are you talking about, I sent help to you. I sent your neighbor to save you and you did not respond, I sent the police to save you and you didn’t respond and I sent the firemen to save you but you rejected their help.” The lord works in mysterious ways, some ways you never expect

@steelfalcon2000 Agreed!! gluttony is definitely a sin!!
@Nixeu42 Жыл бұрын
Point me to a verse that says "don't overeat". Like, explicitly. There's maybe one in Proverbs, but that more decries it for inducing poverty, comparing it to alcoholism. Sort of. That "Seven Deadly Sins" thing? Yeah, they're not explicitly in there anywhere. That's a product of later theological interpretations.
@steelfalconx2000 Жыл бұрын
@@Nixeu42 Is theological interpretation by the church not valid then? Because the whole bible is the product of theologians interpreting different books, passages and letters according to tradition in the Holy Spirit and discerning what is to be included and what is to be labeled a heresy. The correct question is “does the tradition of the church hold gluttony as a sin?” There is definitely an answer to that question if you are interested. And yes there are passages alluding to overeating, more notably Luke 6:25 “Woe unto you that are full now, for you shall hunger” where Christ was going through all the excesses that could damn your soul, the rich, the famous, the glutton, the immature. Christ constantly spoke against excess giving his disciples specific instructions to "take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness" (Luke 21:34). Surfeiting literally means overeating. This warning is carried forth by Paul in a letter to the Ephesians: "be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess" (Ephesians 5:18). His warning is about excess and his example is drunkenness. The seven deadly sins of the Catholics are based on the 8 deadly passions identified by Paul in Galatians 5, which includes drunkenness. Paul often uses the word drunkenness to describe excesses of the stomach, as over drinking in those days was much more common than overeating. Beyond that we also have very specific instructions from illuminated Saints that are much more clear.
@Nixeu42 Жыл бұрын
@@steelfalconx2000 Interpretations are opinions, and I suspect you know what they say about those. That's one reason amongst many that I'm an atheist. I'm also someone who thinks looking for metaphor and symbolism in a text is closer to a Rorschach test, 99% of the time. Tells you way more about the person making the judgement than either the text or the original author. Since I also don't believe in the Holy Spirit, that argument falls flat too. Honestly, you'd be much better off reading it straight through and learning the historical context of the Bible if you actually want to understand it, IMO. Especially the letters of Paul. How those ended up going through the Councils and getting canonized is a mystery to me. That said, I will admit that there does seem to be more basis to your claim than I found, though I still would love to know more about the context of those passages. I don't think you can pull lines from a text and understand them properly unless you know what the lines around them are saying. Finally, and amusingly, i do believe that all of what you cited is New Testament (though I could be wrong), so I guess none of that applies if you're Jewish. Maybe the dietary laws around what's kosher are complex enough that they figured it would dissuade gluttony. Cthulhu knows my dad (who's an Orthodox Jew) has a hard enough time finding places to eat. Tends to cost more, too.
@steelfalconx2000 Жыл бұрын
@@Nixeu42 I get what you're saying, and honestly most of the Bible is interpretation. The protestant view that the Bible is the only truth is also flawed because it misses the complete lesson, one that can be understood by both Scripture and the tradition. It would be hard to accept interpretations if you also don't believe in holy illumination, when one can obtain discernment from God to make some judgments about the faith. In the early days only the word of people who clearly lived in the Spirit was taken seriously, and even then a council would decide, according to the Scripture and the oral tradition, whether or not something had any merit. Unfortunately there are few Christians like that today, especially in the West. You can say I'm a Christian but I don't identify with most people that call themselves Christians today, they are a sinful judgemental bunch, unwilling and unable to actually carry their own cross. In order to live in Christ you must give up yourself. On your last point, yes it's mostly all new testament except for Proverbs. I give a lot of weight to the word of Christ. The thought of Jews not being able to overeat anyway due to really restrictive rules is kind of hilarious. Also remember that Christians also have the traditional fast they are supposed to keep, every Wednesday and Friday, as a way to temper the passions of this world. Modern Christianity has conveniently forgotten about that. Anyway, I appreciate your respectful tone, I hope one day curiosity gets the better of you and you end up in a church service 😆.

It is funny how perfect the timing of this video is. I passed an engineer exam a long ago and the results are not something to be proud of. Because at the time I was preparing I was at a very low point in my life. But today (wich is the day the results are out) I accepted my reality and decided to try again next year. Embracing whole heartedly the fact that I poorly prepared and that I can just try again. Typical me a year ago would just be mad and sad thinking why did I fail and not do well compared to other students. Your videos are like a reminder to me that my worst enemy is my self and that I should be more aware and more gentle to my self. Thank you, you deserve all the love and success

As someone dealing with a different addiction, I’ll say denial for me was also about protecting myself. Nothing changes if nothing changes- but what is life after the change? Is who/how I am really fundamentally wrong? That’s hard to accept. It’s easier to say it was just that one day, that one reason, that one circumstance. The reality obviously is that one bad day doesn’t create five bad years- it IS YOU.

I absolutely was in denial about my weight for a while. I saw my photos and knew I looked bigger. But I convinced myself it was due to bloating. Then I went to the doctor and stopped on the scale and realized I was almost 180lbs at 5ft 2in. That shook me. I always said I'd do something if I got to 180lbs, but I never believed I would get there. I've totally changed how I eat and added exercise. I'm down at least 10lbs now. But yes, denial can be very dangerous.

When you're younger, so many things are different... I'm 5'6" and in high school I was around 140 and could bench press 311. I had almost no body fat, and the only guy in my graduating class that could bench more than me was so big he couldn't even bench his own weight. However, I was a sugar fiend. My dad was a type 2 diabetic and died of liver failure several months ago. He kept warning me, saying: "I was around your age (late 30's) when I started gaining weight; Don't let it get out of control". I looked at myself in the mirror, saw my round face, the fact that I'd lost so much muscle that my arms looked like twigs compared to what they used to be, my lack of endurance these days, and finally, the fact that my stomach was sticking out further than my chest... I told my self a while back, "If I ever start getting big, I'd at least nip it in the bud before turning into one of these bloated monsters", and now I have to put my money where my mouth is, pardon the pun. I jog and do some resistance training on the regular now, and I'm on a mostly high fat, high protein, low carb diet, and I'm trying to get as much ultra processed food out of my diet as I can; It is freaking hard though. The food industry could stand to be a little less poisonous. Take bread as a perfect example: When you mill grain, the lion's share of the nutrients very quickly oxidize and become useless in days. This will also happen to the baked bread, as those nutrients are not stable just because they've been baked. Honestly, these days with all of the wheat we have available, we should really be more concerned about bread loosing its nutrient value than it spoiling, since it will loose its value before it spoils anyway. Back in the day, bakers would get grain shortly after it's milled and bake it fresh every day so that people can buy it every few days or so when they run low. In places like France where they still do this, people are pretty thin despite eating starchy bread on the regular. The fact that in the US we live in the so called "bread basket" of the world, yet in most parts you can't really get legit quality bread anymore unless you buy the whole granules and mill them yourself at home like our ancient freaking ancestors is pretty weird. Americans are so disconnected from their food, it's not even funny. It's really no wonder we're sick.

On the one hand when someone is literally too fat to move on their own does that not mean you can control whatever they eat? On the other hand there seems to be an underlying relationship dynamic where the obese person guilt trips and manipulates their loved one into doing what they want.

@cleardarkness88811 ай бұрын
I would say it's classic co-dependency as seen in the relationship between any other kind of addict and their spouse/enabler. A lot of times that behaviour is something that is learned in the family of origin. For example, my Father was an alcoholic and both my Mother (his first wife) and my Stepmother ( his second wife) had Fathers who were alcoholics.

Food addiction is the hardest one to deal with. You can't just go cold turkey on food. I think the mental side of food addiction needs to be explored way more.
@StraightEdgeJunkie Жыл бұрын
Everyone says this, but I actually disagree. You can easily find replacements for high calorie foods, eat those, and still get close to the enjoyable eating experience you had with the high calorie foods. You can just replace a habit with something similar. And you can still do it in the same situations as before - like while watching KZbin or TV or whatever. You can still do the same stuff you did, but you get less calories, and your health improves. This is not possible with alcohol, cocaine, or whatever. It's possible to some degree with cigarettes if you use e-cigarettes. But other than that, cold turkey is the only way to go, and cold turkey is the hardest way to do it. You're not just replacing those habits, you're flat out removing them. Also, there isn't even any scientific evidence for "food addiction". Some type of food dependence, maybe, yea, there's some data, but even that's not that much.
@kaoryakasaka6835 Жыл бұрын
"Food addiction" is actually not a scientific term. There are certain ultra processed foods that are addictive, but an addiction to food as a whole is not a thing. It's usually either an addiction to certain junk foods(that are basically made to be addictive) or a type of disordered eating - like stress overeating, BED etc. I know what you mean, I just don't like this particular term because an addiction is an actual medical diagnosis and shouldn't be used as a buzzword.

I went into cardiac arrest 9 times and was without oxygen for 15 minutes and I wasn’t supposed to walk out of that hospital bed. But I woke up(by the grace of Jesus Christ) and I had to go through intensive physical and occupational therapy for 5 weeks and I was able to walk out of the hospital. I have a ICD(Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) and it took me 4 years to get into shape because I was so exhausted and depressed and I was diagnosed with PTSD from being in a coma and I ate my feelings for a while. I don’t really need much of that to rip apart her silly excuses and abuse of religion to support her delusion. But even if people are NOT Christian-I highly recommend learning as much as you can about the dominant religion of your culture so you can deal with people misusing it. Not to hurt them (if you’re angry with religion, so something else please) but to make sure religion can’t be used in the terrible ways it sometimes is to hurt themselves and others.

Well, sometimes doctors operate on outdated information; Sometimes the diets they recommend are not actually the best; Like telling you to go on a low-fat diet when the carbs are more of an issue, especially if you're diabetic and have no insulin sensitivity. Many doctors still operate on the old paradigm that saturated fat is a primary cause of health issues, or may have an outdated understanding of cholesterol. Personal bias also enters into the equation and can change from doctor to doctor. And of course they like to put you on drugs too; some being helpful, others not so much.

It's like someone pulling out the race card or sexism card during an argument: they're just trying to get out of an argument they're losing more often than not and distract the person they're trying to convince with a non-issue. This crap is frustrating and why I don't deal with certain people I grew up with anymore.

One thing you haven't touched on. It's obvious something traumatic has happened to this girl to cause eating/self soothing to this extent. The last thing she wants to do is feel the emotions that led her to this. I don't know why the doctors don't do a psychological exam on people this morbidly obese who are seeking treatment? It's the emotions she is trying to literally bury in fat. If she gets the gastric surgery she'll still eat crappy food and will probably gain the weight back. Until she deals and Feels the underlying feelings she's trying to obliterate by constantly eating nothing will get better.

I totally agree with you! I always thought that in addition to weight loss before surgery, a certain amount of therapy needs to be done. I suppose many people would balk at that and not do it. Schenee did have therapy sessions scheduled but skipped them, which is so sad because it really could have helped. I hope she's gotten some help since then.

Wait, but I thought the plan they were doing included the therapy and she skipped them 🤔

They usually include free psychotherapy as part of the program. It is not the first step, but if needed they add it. Typically the patient doesn't participate and/or doesn't continue going. I agree deep therapy is needed. But the patient has to actually show up to the appointment(s).

Yes I agree, this is very important

I think in order to get weight loss surgery you have to get an evaluation and you also are given a therapist. It’s up to the patient to take both the exam and therapy seriously.

Kiana, I hope so much that Freddie finds and sees this video. You've given him the credit he deserves. Thank you for that. And thank you Freddie for being such a kind and loving man. We could surely use more of those in today's world!

I cannot imagine how much you have to eat to gain 30 lbs in one month. This is like what, 125 000 calories? A normal chocolate bar has 500 calories. That means 250 bars of chocolate in a month, so 8-9 a day on top of your daily intake to hold your current weight (which is not a small amount to begin with at her weight).
@lotsaspaghettimamaluigi Жыл бұрын
@@Conval-wi5eh jesus chocolate bars have more calories than I thought
@Conval-wi5eh Жыл бұрын
@@lotsaspaghettimamaluigi At least for us Europeans it's usually about 500 calories per chocolate bar. Our chocolate bars usually are 100 g (= 0,22 lbs). When you have fancy chocolate, like something with hazel nut or caramel or brownie something, it's even more, up to 560 calories per bar. I don't know what your serving sizes are in the US, so I wanted to clarify my reference. That means my calculation of 8-9 chocolate bars would be nearly 1 kg of chocolate (800-900 g) or nearly 2 lbs of chocolate every single day for a whole month on top of your normal calorie intake to gain 30 lbs in a month. No shaming her, just a visualization what it would take and how unhealthy a diet has to be to gain weight like this.

What you said about being an accepting person relates to me. I'm highly into escapism, and it makes my blood boil whenever I see the news- even if it isn't that much. But I'm not going to pretend my problems barely exist, because if I do, I'll probably become a worse adult. That's probably why I prefer to write than talk, I can express myself in a manner I can look back on, and especially why I like journaling. NGL, 600 LB life is almost inspiring to be in a way. Like, "This could become you if I keep denying", and I don't want to become her. Great video as always!

Yo, the determination for you to redo this video! I can't stop watching your videos. XD You talk about the issues in such a down-to-Earth way. Even if the issues don't pertain to us, I always find you tie it back to some big overarching theme. Happy I got to watch new content today! :D
