The big boy commands respect!!! They all want to grab that food and start munching but they know better than to even think about reaching for it.

Yes, he should share but I don't know that the notion 'sharing food with others' is a ''gorilla-thing''. Often or even always they never do. It seems not to exist in the ''gorilla vocabulary'' 😯🙃

@@wernervannuffel2608 It seems to not exist in the "animal vocabulary". Food is the #1 priority in the animal kingdom, individuals that can secure food for themselves live longer and can pass their genes. Even thought apes are highly inteligent and certainly not 100% selfish all the time, alpha individuals always secure high value foods for themselves first, because they dont understand the concept of future availability, they behave only based on the present needs, even though they are well fed every day. Gorilla silverback has priority in everything, and when he gets satisfied, the others can feast based on their group rank. Kinda sad but that is how nature and evolution works and the strong survive the weak. But with that said, zookeepers know that high value foods can create an unnecessary tention in the group (nobody likes to see others feasting while being hungry themselves), so they usually prepare enough food for everybody

@@niklFITYou are right. The silverback is the one in wildlife who is in charge to look for food and find food resources. The Silverback must be well and best fooded to be strong and able to protect all members of his troup. His grip is stronger than a bite of a lion and a tigerr. And his appearance is most impressionant just other species know they need to think twice before attacking one of his members. Nature is very well builded up. I agrree. By this fact sharing food in the animal kingdom is not.something ''usual''. From a human point of view I wroted ''he should share'' but from an animal point of view and instinct they do not. I know🙂. It was just an emotional comment😏🙋
