I saw this and thought it didn’t make any sense to me. Wing Chun: Wing Chun is focused on very precise structures and movements while developing the ability to move the body from and towards the centerline. Yi Quan Concepts: Yi Quan allows you to drop techniques and structure, meaning you will get freedom of movement and freedom from relying on specific structures. Wat.

@@ThomasMarxJKD it didn’t make ANY sense to me. Structure is important right. I thought it sounded like nonsense when I read it
@axelstone31317 ай бұрын
@@ThomasMarxJKD I also found this. I won’t spam you with comments this is the last one. “Started Training Esoteric Kung Fu Style to Supplement JKD so I started practicing basic YiQuan training which mostly involves hugging an invisible tree and using your imagination, and I have to say I am surprised how much I have already learned from what appears to be a simple practice. It's my hypothesis that Bruce Lee was using esoteric Kung Fu body mechanics (peng jing, fa-jin, etc. etc.) when he performed his techniques instead of just relying on muscle power - and that's why he was too fast for the cameras to pick up. I feel like a clever boy, but this information isn't really secret - it's just never really tied to Bruce Lee or Jeet Kune Do, and I thought that was weird. I guess there's probably secret stuff certain instructors close to the original students know about - but that's lame. Anyway, I'll lazily keep you updated on my Zhan Zhuang Odyssey as it develops maybe if you're interested.” Magical gung fu body mechanics lol

How you put a lot of power into a lead kick? Is that where the practice a kick 10,000 times comes in?
@ThomasMarxJKD7 ай бұрын
By pushing the and turning the hip into the kick, and the body weight...
@rolandotillit28677 ай бұрын
@@ThomasMarxJKD You mean waist. There's this misconception about human kinematics, that the hips are the source of power. The hips are just a transfer mechanism, it is the waist that generates power. Your torso is the strongest part of your body that can rotate. Hips don't rotate, they do not produce torque, only the waist can rotate and produce torque. The waist is the crankshaft of the engine, the hips are the differential.
@rolandotillit28677 ай бұрын
@@ThomasMarxJKD I can elaborate in a more practical way. All your muscles are tied to your back and torso anyway. The hip is a joint, it is a structure meant for articulating, the waist, along with our spine is meant for rotating along an axis.

@@axelstone3131 Meanwhile you're here commenting. I didn't say he was wrong, I'm just letting you know the waist generates power not the hips. It's simple anatomy, feel free to show me how you generate power with your sacroiliac joints.

He got the kicks from Wing Chun and mostly from Savate while basing the movement on rules of fencing. It's in his notes clearly in THE TAO OF JKD. Watch Jerry Poteet's LOW LINE ATTACKS video (which I assisted in making) for most comprehensive break down and first hand knowledge/experience. I've got plenty of info on my channel as well.
