Jesus, I finally know how to use that button properly. I’ve been scratching my head thinking that’s it’s broken or something. My mom’s RX just closes and locks without the need of walking away. Thanks for demonstrating!

Yes it's a new feature. I wish they had the option to change the modes. Press and walk away or press and let it come down and lock without waiting.

I observed the issues with the close & lock (walk away) function not operating each time. After spending some time to experience it, I came to the conclusion that best results are obtained when: - keeping the key in the pocket (not in the hand nor in a bag on the ground, I tested both), - staying slightly away from the edge of the trunck so that the sensor does not detect the key as if it was inside the car, - walking away before hearing several beeps. With that, I have almost 100% success.

Yes. I feel sometimes if I have the keys in my pants pockets and it's closer to the bumper, it doesn't detect the key. Put the key in my jacket pocket, it works all the time.

I traded in my Honda Accord Touring with walk away locking and found it to be a great feature of that car. I was very disappointed when I picked up my Lexus NX Luxury that IT DID NOT have that feature, save for the rear hatch. For the life of me I cannot understand why Lexus does not have that feature as an almost standard feature. I found it to be tremendously handy in a number of situations, foremost was I NEVER forgot to lock the car as it was always done automatically. I have found the hatch lock and walk away to be a bit cranky at times.
@lsft Жыл бұрын
It doesn't seem like that feature is available on any Toyota/Lexus vehicle. It's unfortunate. The lock and walk away has been much better once I've got use to it.

Hi, just to give you an update of the back door problem. I talk with a guy at the service department at the dealership, he told me that some people are having situations like mine. I have to take it to the dealer for check "some" sensor at the back door.

Want to check with you when the engine is running, are you able to close the trunk automatically by pressing the rear trunk closing button or the trunk button inside the new NX?
@lsft10 ай бұрын
Are you in drive or park? I'll have to double check, but in P - yes I can. But if I am in drive, I'm not sure. I will have to try it tomorrow morning.

I am in P. But the trunk is not closing by pressing the rear button or inside car button with engine running. I’m not sure why. But it works when I turn off the engine.

So to be clear: when you press the icon with the lock, it closes and locks all the doors in the car, not just the trunk? I pick up my NX this Thursday!!!
@lsft2 жыл бұрын
That is correct. But it's not like when I press the button it will immediately close and lock. It allows you time to pick up your stuff and then when you walk away it will close and lock all doors, trunk and the charging door (NX450h+).

I find the walk away trunk lock feature is very dumb. I had Mercedes SUV before and it locks immediately after it's pressed. People pick up stuffs from the trunk first and then lock. Not the other way around where you lock and pickup stuffs. It's so unintuitive. Sometimes I will need more time to pickup stuffs than the timer that the trunk door imposed. Yes, it has a timer. If I spend too long picking up stuffs, the door refuses to close and lock. This trunk door thing is over thinking from Lexus engineer. Very, very dumb feature. There is one more feature that I can't stand is unable to renaming favorites on destination inside navigation. For example, address saved in favorites will be called "123 Main Street" and you can't rename it to "Parent House". What and why?!!!??? My previous Mercedes SUV can rename and reorder the list. This NX350 is driving me nuts in this specific two features. Other than that, it's freaking awesome car! Love it. You get more feature package out of NX350 with cheaper price than my previous Mercedes GLC300 which could've costed thousands of dollars more for the same feature package.

No car is perfect. I hope that that could be personalized so that you can press that button and it will just close and lock like the first gen NX. They decided to change this which actually creates more complexity, and hoping there is some convenience. Typically I would bring in the groceries and the last batch, I would then press the button and then take the remaining bags and then walk away. It has worked well that way. I would say that Lexus software is weak. They need to step that game up.

This is for old and poorer women. This SUV is popular with women. J.D. Power data shows that 57% of Lexus NX owners are female, compared to 43% of all compact premium SUVs. Lexus NX owners enjoy a median annual household income of $133,108 (vs. $167,283), and 35% of them identify as Practical Buyers followed by 30% who are Performance Buyers.
