Seriously this video needs 1 million views. Bruce would be so proud of this evolution. Love mixing of dutch kickboxing with jkd. The feints in this video are priceless and so valuable. Its just a shame that "sidekicks dont work" even when they do ;)

Really nice. I wish I had a sparring partner to play around using the techniques you've shown. A bag in a corner of a room can't simulate using footwork well to entering and leaving kicking & punching range of a bag.

@@NYMartialArtsAcademy - The challenge many face is the lack of JKD schools. Most are forced to attend Shotokan or Muay Thai since they're everywhere. 😅 There needs to be more JKD Sifus around.

Loving the follow up punches after the kicks. So important because not only does it prevent you from being left wide open, it can be unexpected and unpredictable for the opponent. The top schools teach this, but it's surprising how many school just end the combo at the kick.

Yup what he's illustrating here is throwing a kick, and then landing forward with that kick to gain distance and attack with the hands. If you ever wonder how you can get into hand trapping, one of the best ways to bridge the gap first is with a kick --> Pak Da. Oh, and when doing a Pak Da, it's very useful to trap the leg as you crash into their centerline and destroy their structure.

@@jkdfighter4964 Very cool stuff! I'll have to try that. My strength in fighting are my punches so I often use kicks or kick feints as setups. Have you tried hop sidekick fake into single leg takedown? The hands go up when they see the chamber of the kick (they don't know sidekick or round.) Even if they go to scoop or deflect the fake kick, they forget about the legs. So its easier to go for a takedown. I'm surprised my fighters haven't used this in televised matches.

@@voiceoverandmocapguy I have not tried it, but it's probably possible. You'd have to really sell to your opponent that you love doing sidekicks and then change the pattern by throwing a take down. Very useful if your opponent does those "leg check" movements and you pick up / predict their pattern.
@voiceoverandmocapguy

@@jkdfighter4964 Try it out! I get it to work most of the time. It's like any feint, you have to throw a hard one /painful one at some point before the feint setup. A strong side teep or pendulum sidekick will give it enough power to make em cover up next time. The trick is to wind up or show a chamber to, like you said, sell it. Feint lead sidekick into cross, feint sidekick into single leg, feint sidekick into lead uppercut. TKD and karate practitioners do something similar when they slide forward.

Honestly you guys look better than the Metrolina guys. It really shows. I like them, but you guys are in another class of REAL SHIT. Do you guys ever plan to visit the Bay Area in California? IF you do, let me know. We run the Original Oakland JKD school. We fought against other JKD guys back in 2016 and won the "International JKD Tournament" back in 2016 organized by Paul Lewis. We fought some of Jerry Poteet's guys, Eric Carr, and some Inosanto lineage guys.

Excellent work! But I must disagree on one thing: side kick, Jeet Tek or the sliding/snapping side kick to the opponent's lead leg CAN be thrown naked since it's not telegraphed, unexpected and just too quick, you just need to read the opponent's movements and time it at their half beat. It can often land to the body also if done correctly. And if done fully extended like how Bruce Lee did it in the movies, when it turns to a back kick at the end, it'll do big damage even without hitting the liver. Oh and how about trying out the oblique kick to round house kick to the head combo also.

Single Direct Attack, yes. Although I think NY JKD is just emphasizing to set it up with deception.

Funny how there’s an ongoing joke about how side kicks don’t work-that may be true if your side kick hasn’t been practiced and trained properly-but if you put the time in-side kicks are DEVASTATINg-as you stated Jon Jones uses side kicks and obliques-to the point that there was a concern he was going to cripple somebody because Jones aimed for joints-Cung Le has sent people flying with his side kicks, Don Wilson had a masterful side kick , Samart Payakaroon had that amazing ‘side teep’ which was essentially a lead leg half side kick and he’d intercept with it constantly-loving these videos you are doing with Jeff and love that he is exploring JKD with your gym

Of course side kicks work. People make stupid titles/thumb nails to create chaos, confusion and controversy. This creates clicks and ad revenue. Jeff’s JKD is going to get really good. 💪💥
