I don't understand this at all. I search for "reasons" why this so-called "mother" may feel the way she does, but what it always comes down to is that she has chosen "something else" over her own child. Now this is probably far more common than we as a species want to admit. People abandon their kids for all kinds of shocking reasons. Today, in fact, I read a piece about a baby abandoned by her mother because she saw the girl as a "monster" for having been born without arms. Family annihilators (usually psychopathic/narcissistic men) not only abandon their families but destroy them, then go on to new ones and new lifestyles and new identities. Somehow (and this is what fascinates me) the civilized, middle-class veneer disappears in a second, and the parent is revealed as a creature incapable of maintaining--even of understanding--ordinary human decency. The reptilian brain takes over and a child is tossed out the door, an entire family is butchered, an infant winds up in a garbage bag out in the snow. Unfortunately, much of this doesn't come to light until the parent missteps and is arrested. And while this sort of person takes pains to cover his or her tracks and escape, his or her excuse is always "oh, I simply snapped and I feel terrible." But not terrible enough to take responsibility for the abandonment or the crime. I really do wonder what the hell kind of species we are.

Just remember what’s in the Bible if you are free of sin throw the first rock. Also God is love. Or your God child. Or God created you the way you are. But when it comes to killers, cheaters, etc . Easy to say that when it isn't your child. Plenty of parents don't want gay children but they learn to love them. Who the hell looks at their kid when it is born and says, I hope he grows up to be gay????? No one says that. Parents have a right to be angry or disappointed. That doesn't mean they don't love their child or can not adjust to it.

It really disturbs me to hear of kids being made to feel this way about their sexuality by their parents, no wonder the suicide rates are so bloody high ! As a Mother of a wonderful, successful woman who just happens to be gay, I say to ALL parents, your children's sexuality is none of your damn business. We bring children up to be decent, law abiding, polite and hard working citizens, once you have done that ? job done ! It has absolutely nothing to do with you if your child is gay or straight and if you were halfway intelligent you would realise it.

Wow, his description of his teen years, with his mom not accepting, his dad not there and then only partly there, his mom also not in the picture, and his own struggles to figure himself out.... All that trouble because his parents could not deal with their son being gay or anyone being gay. -- I can sympathize. I grew up not feeling I could ever talk to my parents about being gay. I didn't come out until after they were gone. All that time and effort wasted because of fear and lack of acceptance from the people we love the most. Why do people do that to each other?

Not mad at his mother, I understand her disappointment. People have a right to not support his lifestyle and shouldn't be forced to support it. However, this doesn't give mom a pass to have no relationship whatsoever with her son. He is grown now, reconcile with him. She can still disagree with his homosexual lifestyle, but not loving him is inexcusable. He's still her son. Mom shouldn't be vilified for standing up for her beliefs. You can stand against homosexuality these days without being attacked. Kudos to mom for standing up for traditional families. 👏 However, glad this young man has adjusted and didn't hurt himself. He seems to be happy. He gave me too many details for my taste but he gets to be himself. Good luck to both he and his family.

Jesus never said you couldn’t be gay. Not once. People think they know what they are talking about when it comes to religion but they don’t. The whole reason for rejection is because you’re supposed to be fruitful and multiply. However, there are lots of people who cannot be fruitful and multiply such as people who are sterile as well as older people. However, the church marries them anyway. Hmmm. The Bible was written, interpreted and abused by mankind. Not God. You are supposed to create a loving relationship with God through one another. Period. If that loving relationship happens to produce offspring, great! But if not then you still created a loving relationship with God. Be kind to yourself and each other. You are also one of God’s children and he made you the way he wanted you to be.
