How is this any kind of proper test ? No baffle of any kind, no seperation of the front and back wave. The speaker is cancelling it self out and creating a harsh sound. There are several differences between the KX & CS the tweeter is a huge one. Not only is the KX bigger .75 vs .50 it's also a silk soft dome vs poly carbonate hard dome.

Don't quote audiophiles and audio engineers to justify the fact that you are reviewing speakers for quality without an enclosure. Complex interactions of sound pressure waves inside an enclosure can make or break a speaker. Phenomenon such as baffle step loss, standing waves, bi-pole distortion and many more are completely removed in this type of Listening environment . Listening to an exposed speaker while you wave it around and provide a review is incredibly juvenile. Take some time to learn audio and post better reviews. This is just sad.

The CS series in general weren’t bad. I had 5.25, 6x9’s, and 6.5. They got loud, and took a beating. In my opinion, the 2 khz range was where this series drove me crazy. I was always messing with my eq with these. Anytime vocals pronounced words with the letter “S” at higher volumes, they always sounded off and harsh. I wasn’t truly happy with them, and then began my journey of finding what was right for me at a reasonable price. Lots of research, found your videos that helped me get a better idea of what’s out there, and I went with JBL GX series and I couldn’t be happier for now. GX 6x9 front, GX 6.5 rear. No more constant tweaking of the eq, vocals with the letter “S” are not an issue, and just an overall much better balanced sound. Just ordered GTO 2” midrange for my dash, and my next upgrade with be JBL GTO 6x9 components. I thank you for your reviews!

The reason you keep having that issue is because the "s" sound is at the 4khz range. Just below where kicker set the crossover point. Clearly they need to work on their design and get a tweeter that can play lower so they can have it play the 4khz instead of the midbass doing it. Playing around with the 4khz and removing a bit of 2khz will smooth them out a lot.

Got the CSC65's in my doors with 100watts continuous going to them. Completely correct about the CSC65 having less vocal pick-up, but to balance it out I also have two 3.5" Hertz DCX 87.3's ;). Fair review, love your stuff, man.

Could the JBL's handle an aftermarket head unit that puts out 52 watts continuous? That and the bass range being higher on them limits their application for many people. I will buy the kickers and add a bigger tweeter and the vocals will be fine without having to purchase an amp. It should not cost thousands of dollars and having to rewire the entire system to get decent sound from a stereo.

The RMS and Watt Peak is better in the Kicker CS but the Kicker DS are $10 dollar cheaper so for me I spend the extra $10 dollars in the Kicker CS

I have the Kicker CS model with factory radio and it sounds pretty good in my 2013 Chevrolet Silverado the major upgrade was in treble and does have a little more bass than the stock speakers but they sound even better with Aftermarket radio

I don't know if the speakers (including the expensive ones) actually suck or your sound pick up sucks. There is no bass even though I could see the cone pumping. The highs clips terribly. I'm listening with a pair of KEF m500, which usually sounds decent enough with YT music.

There is a big difference between listening to mid range speakers in a clean environment and having them playing in a vehicle with a 150+db system. I've seen many of the speakers you consider "top notch" or whatever" implode from the bass or just distort to the point where they just sound like garbage.

--Kicker has always sounded like garbage to me. The sound is always broken, poor clarity, never handle the power they say they can, cheap Chinese crap. Kicker is for a certain shopper. Not me. But, some people love them. ---I listen to basically all Dark Techno mostly. What 6.5" quality speaker do you recommend for overall sound? I find many speakers just can't keep up with the speed of the music changes. --For sensitivity comparison, you need to state what measurement was used; otherwise, they can't be compared. So, if two different sensitivity scales, you need to convert one to the other to compare them. --One a side, you channel is bumping. Maybe get 2 car doors from the junk yard and use them to run speakers in, which would be a more realistic application. IDK. Maybe sounds ridiculous.
