One thing I really miss about old phones is that satisfying sound in made when you hung up on someone. They were so solid and had that little bell in them so when you were pissed and slammed that fucker down it just felt really satisfying. Plus you know that the person on the other end heard a really loud click, too!

The yellowing is called oxidation. Some plastics have this reaction after a while due to oxygen. Strange indeed. This is why Super Nintendos become yellow as well. It can sometimes be cured with peroxide solutions. The more you know :D I have this same typewriter! Great video Heather.

You know, I somehow liked you talking to your other personas, especially Dark Feather. I wouldn't mind a long video of just that. Just some random rambling and conversations with different personas of yours. Maybe while playing around with something, like in a sound assortment video. Or maybe it could be something like you and your other characters (or at least you and Dark Feather) are in the same room, all looking at the same thing, trying it out, all stating their opinions on it, maybe even debating whether or not they're useful items or not. The reason the letters are arranged in the weird qwerty formation that they are is so that letters that were regularly used after one another such A N D were on opposite ends of the line of stamps, so that when you were typing fast you wouldn't get them stuck together and jammed up, which is the problem you had at about 12 minutes, the keys were never designed to be pressed all at once so if you do the ones close together get jammed! Great video, the key sounds are tingleicious, thank you :)

kmfurr1 haha when i was in high school we would have bomb drills. my freshman year i was at the far end of the school, so my class had a long walk. First we were walking away from the school, then we approached the school. Everyone was saying if a bomb did go off, we would be screwed lol. My town is located near a base so i guess you could say we have a slightly higher chance of being bombed in an unusual case. Now the chance for someone to walk in and set a bomb is highly unlikely when it requires a teacher's card or speaking to the main office through a speaker at the entrance.

Buttons = Keys Belt = Ribbon Cylinder = Platen Thing you slide over at the end of page that holds the Platen = Carriage (hence the term Carriage Return, which is where your Enter key comes from on a computer keyboard) :)

There is actually a historical reason why we call typeface uppercase and lowercase. When the first attempts at the printing press were invented, they had interchangeable letters and they were stored on what looked like a bookshelf. The large block letters (Think A, B, C) were stored on the upper case and the smaller letters (think a, b, c) were stored on the lower case. Hence, upper and lower cases. #Uselesshistoryfact

Yep this reminds me back in the days used type writer in school and the old school telephone does make some pretty neat sounds I actually have a type writer back in the 1800's different sounds compared to the one your showing little more heavier sounds I enjoyed this thanks Heather.

Showing my age / I used to sell typewriters , lol and the " mar rel " (is margin release ) and the belt is a inked ribbon. Sometimes they came in black at the top and red at the bottom , you use ribbon shift to type in Red. This one Looks to be in good shape we used to oil them frequently For sticky keys ,and the cylinder as you call it or otherwise known as the Platen, would get grooves in it and you could remove it and sand it down so it would be smooth again for better quality print! :) Also the H & L switch was hard & light (it made the keys easier or harder to depress! (it had to be a pretty good strike to make the print even! And the big silver lever on the left side was the carriage return (not automatic) Its fun watching you play with this !!!! :)

Reminds me of my grandfather's old typewriter. It was a chunky beige affair with a much larger wheel. I remember typing stories and scripts on it for fun when I was a kid. I loved the sound it made as I typed away. I remember that I had to be careful what I typed because we didn't have any white-out to correct errors. I recall that it had a system to dispense white out with separate keys for correcting and backspacing. I thought it was the coolest thing when I was little.

One thing, for the arm on the side where you push the typewriter, you can push the arm itself down and in (to the right) so it isn't damaged by the case, I have the same style of typewriter by the same company and pushing the arm down and in, stops it from being broken

Hi, Heather. If someone already mentioned this, I apologize. MAR REL stands for Margin Release, allows you to type past the margin to the edge of the paper. You may also notice there is no numeral "1" on the keyboard; that's because back in the day we used the lower case "L" for the number 1. Lastly, the silver lever to the left of the carriage moves the paper up on space so you won't type over your previous line. Thanks! This brings back some high school memories-- learned on a manual like this in 1987.

The silver handle is the return. When you get a "ding", you push the return to the right. It moves the paper to the next line.

MAR REL = Margin Release. You would set the margins on the typewriter for the same reasons you set margins within a word processing program. The Margin Release does exactly what it implies. There should also be a MAR SET key. That's to set the margin.

ButterflyDragon9 Margins are set on either side of the carriage unless you have a machine that sets them on the keyboard or with a carriage let lever. Very few have those though
