It's always an AWESOME podcast. I was SUPER happy when you and JB expanded the VB pregame to 1 hour. How about turning it into a live video segment showing warm-ups similar to FB?

The team mantra for next year should be: 'Unfinished Business.' Every time the team practices inside the Devaney Center, the phrase should be lit up on the scoreboard until practice is completed.

Its one thing to lose 25% of your starters or players that played significant minutes but one leaves after she has graduated, one isn't even on a volleyball scholarship, one barely had any playing time and one has no playing time at all is not something to worry about. I love "Merritt" but there were definitely matches where Caroline should have been given an opportunity to play. Especially since Jaylen kept commenting on how she was the hardest hitting attacker on the team. To prevent her from playing because Jaylen realized her college major takes 5 years to graduate so you decide to redshirt her during the Nebraska Volleyball Day in front of 92,000 fans and she wasn't told why she didn't play until the next day was a total BS decision!

The transfer portal is not going away. Schools will have to adapt to it. Cook's comments at the end of the season suggested he was fighting it as much as he could. Texas seems to have adapted to it. As a comparison to Nebraska, Texas transfers this year: Starter Molly Phillips is going to play beach at USC after 5 years at Texas. Backup Reilly Heinrich is transferring to play her 5th year as a grad student somewhere. Only backup setter Marina Crownover has more than 1 year left. Not transferrring Bella Bergmark who appears to be just graduating and not using her last year anywhere.

18:53 “We do everything possible to keep players happy.” No, you don’t, coach. You don’t do the #1 thing that keeps players happy: you don’t distribute playing time throughout the roster. Both the Wisconsin and Texas coaching staffs make it a point to get regular playing time for every player on their rosters - especially in non-conference play. You don’t. You’ve publicly stated many times over the years that you don’t like playing a number of different players. You’ve stated that you prefer having a set lineup with set substitutions. OK, but don’t be surprised when players you’ve recruited leave your program. You recruit very top ranked players. Top recruits don’t go to college to not play even single point over the course of several matches. Players of that stature expect to play at least somewhat regularly - a la the Wisconsin and Texas programs. But you choose not to do that. Ally B was getting virtually no playing time until Krause got hurt. Players aren’t going to accept that. That you didn’t play every single player on your roster - for a decent number of points - in the stadium match was a travesty. The match was a blowout. A laugher. You could’ve played the last player on the depth chart at every position and you still would’ve won that match easily. But instead you kept your starters in for almost the entirety of the match. What were you thinking? Hayden K got in for the last 3 points. Gee, thanks. And Caroline Jurevicius did not get in at all. (Look at the expression on her face when the camera pans on the bench towards the end of that match.) I guarantee you they were genuinely hurt & supremely pissed off and were looking to the Transfer Portal from that moment on. And you’re actually bewildered why you lost players to the portal??? You especially don’t sit a player of Caroline Jurevicius’ talent for an entire season without okaying it with her and her family ahead of time. Now that she’s transferred to Penn State I’m expecting her to absolutely play her tail off against us for the next four years.

It will be interesting to see if Cook uses more players this year. Does he rotate a lot for spring practices? I just watched Texas in their first spring match. Right away the lineup was different as Texas started a libero as their only DS where normally they use a libero and 2 DS. As the match progressed, Texas was rotating in different players including a new setter.
