Feels like every KS campaign already uses Backerkit for fulfillment anyway so it really begs the question what is the point of dealing with this middleman?

@@Orange_Pith Yea i get that and in the age of Zombicide et al discoverability and reach were a much larger part of the equation but I feel like in the year of our lord 2024 pretty much every project is already/necessarily associated with a well known or notorious name or influence in which case discoverability plays a significantly lesser portion of the pie.

@toasthammer i agree that having a platform beforehand does grant far greater reach. The issue is conversion. So the people watching youtube are not always the people wanting to buy minis. But the people on backerkit or Kickstarter are there as customers so your conversion is much higher. Views to clicks are low, clicks to purchases are even lower. I have ran 2 campaigns and it gives you a lot of the data for where clicks came from.

I think its just a natural decline in hobby interest driven mostly by the economy. Like a lot of other hobbies, miniature painting and gaming saw a spike in 2020 due to the lockdowns. Over time people have drifted away from those new hobbies, not to mention the state of the economy in most places. It wasn't just tabletop games; video games, roleplaying games, craft hobbies etc. all saw huge boosts in 2020, kept that increased interests through 2021 and have been slowly dropping since.

It doesn't help that G Dubs is making money hand over fist whilst keeping production cost steady so it's the consumer that gets screwed and people are getting sick of paying £60 for a box of 5 models

I'm just gonna leave my 2 cents on why I'm watching less; and this isn't just you guys it's tabletop content in general. The TLDR is.... I can't afford the hobby anymore. I've always painted AoS and 40K and I just can't justify the cost anymore. I've stopped painting entirely and so my interest in tabletop content is just waning. I try to keep up with your videos because I just like your crew and content in general but man... The algorithms gonna algorithm. I wonder how many other views you're losing just by people being priced out and losing interest.

For find ability I suggest also trying a campaign on my mini factory, considering it’s a 3D printing focused platform. I myself just bought into a One Page Rules army campaign thing earlier this evening.

Multiple platforms. Some creators run both MMF tribes, MMF frontiers and crowdfunding to sell their works. Frontiers works well if the minis are ready to go. Backerkit is good if there is a lag in delivery of the STLvfiles

2 things: 1) every model is a Necromunda model. Thank you for making some dope Water Guild proxies! 2) someone said this hobby is going through the roof in costs and that impacts their desire to be involved in it and I feel that. Moreso on the “oh man I had kids in the pandemic and have to box this up for now,” realm, but I’m going to be printing these minis in preparation for… a decade from now when I have time again… ohhhhh dammit. @@redscope897 while i see the logic there, that is not a legitimate defense. they clearly have the people dedicated to manually approving each kickstarter and doing checks on the creators. they showed that they know jazza and Tabletop time are linked and viewed them as one entity wrongly in this case and ignored the blatant timelines for the other two that aren't even up yet. this is an issue of kickstarter being terrible and not accepting anything other than what they decide is correct. they directly said they don't worry about this for "creators in good standing," mythic games was in good standing until it wasn't. in good standing is just a bs layer of corpo speak with no definable requirements.

I just released a video that used your space bears minis. There were many questions about where to get them. I don't know what the limits are due to Kickstarter but put the space bears up on your MMF store to let people that didn't know about the Kickstarter the chance to buy the STL files. Then for the kindred of the abyss as soon as the campaign is over they should go up as well. Also as an edit. Talk with the guys over at one page rules to get on their "creator" page and make army lists to play there. It gives more exposure for your minis and I would love to make videos on them 😊

Followed and shared! The plans look amazing and even if I might not get these models for myself, boy do I want them to be made, they look GORGEOUS! As a sidenote: "People are less interested in watching people make stuff, and more interested in watching them talk about stuff" this seems to be a common struggle right now accross KZbin and different niches. I've been struggling like crazy to get back on track and corrective measures need to be taken now. It saddens me to see that such talented creators like you (and others) need to "feed into" doing stuff that might not necessarily come naturally. I totally agree on the point of being a creator who likes to be creative and make stuff, seems now more than ever we need to find the balance of doing that but catering to the Algorithm Dark Gods. LTTs Wan Show always get recommended randomly in the middle of other stuff and it's good long form content, they have a discussion on why long for is the way to get retention numbers up. it takes some every effort to get up again after taking pounding hits to your business. theres probably as many ways to build a business as there are people doing it, and the struggle and fights that you find yourself in are all consuming. the fight to make an idea exist is just so emgrossing that deciding to stop tends to be harder than being stopped by someone/thing outside. im up to 3 businesses so far. i ran out of money for the first, lockdown stopped the second, the 3rd almost failed, but is stuttering along and actually makes a small wage, so this year has been the best in the last 6 of years of grind. though, Im still not sure if i should be doing it, and less of an idea of what I should do in 6 months, but here I am, plugging away.. You've got your team, and your continuing to talk with them all, thats a huge win.

I found for myself i spend less time watching people doing painting tutorials. I find some channels (I won't mention names) get so repetitive, and sometimes I'll pass by their videos because they are so similar to previous videos and I assume it's something I've already watched, then I'll look down and see it was released earlier that day. Or they make stuff like painting content advertised for the average person... while painting at golden demon level painting, and to be honest as a viewer that's a bit disheartening. Some channels I watch often. Pete the Wargamer is a great example. Each project is different, creative, and while some are similar. He puts his spin on it and makes it feel unique while also offering great painting/kitbashing advice for the average person. I really enjoy your content, been watching for a long time, I like the idea of creating new products like the Kindred, I look forward to looking at the new models and doing a cool story with them eventually. I love the advertising for smaller games, your video on Trench Crusade was awesome! I'm not a youtuber, so I don't know the struggle it is to run a channel. But as a viewer and enjoyer of your channel I wanted to put that out there if you read it. You guys are definitely a boon to the community!

@AndyAlert there were a couple I was referring too lol. What I like are guys who are capable of painting and have won golden demons, but paint and explain in a way that it encourages and teaches average painters. A good example of someone I really like is Vincey V for painting

@AndyAlert but I found channels like Squidmar changed from being a hobby channel to an entertainment channel, challenges and Whatnot. Definitely great for people and the community, but not what I am interested in mostly (although their manta project was amazing). I find it rewatch their old stuff a lot more than their new stuff. And it wasn't a knock at Squidmar, their team seems like great people and I hope one day to paint half as well as they can one day, but as for watching videos regularly I found i just lost interest. Some channels I just straight up don't enjoy anymore and won't watch entirely. Table Top Time is a neat channel because it's both educational and entertaining, which is great but I think puts it in a hard spot. They offer great videos on how they do their kitbashes, painting and terrain showing the process! While also doing battle reports and thematic stories! I like both, but I can see it being hard to manage and get consistent engagement. I really like the direction they are looking at though!
