this one was great. it humanized the nice guy a lot while still showing how he is bound by his insecurities to do and think self destructively and immature. where he was seen sympathising with his great uncle he was also seen letting a fantasy enter into his ego with the joker thing (chuckled a lot at that one, comedy and insight are a wonderful combo as demo'd there). I think if there is a message with slappable jerks new universe, it would be that no matter how punchable someone currently is, everyone is capable of change. but coping mechanisms are deeply rooted, and its up to every individual if its worth the investment to drag them out. we can do nothing but pray that there is enough tenured professors and kids raised by their grandparents to balance the "nice guys" of the world. lord knows there aren't enough therapists.

@@Nice_Treethat would make the world feel too closed off yk? Elliot needs a good figure in his life and instead of introducing someone new for no reason they fill in the role with teddy since then they can have good interactions and show more depth to teddy with nice guy being a foil of sorts to him, testing his fortitude and patience till we see how he truly is, though zoey would have great interactions with the professor especially since all his students so far are unnamed caricatures of certain features in people, also the Brian (I think that’s his name) was a little too sheltered from outside interactions with people where he can be painted in his actual personality so using him as a dickhead neighbor who gets whooped by the grandpa was good depth for both of them, how are KZbin skits showing better writing and and depth than most mainstream media damn

I love how you apply a heavy stereotype without making everyone 1dimensional. It really comes out in the nice guy. At the start every time he was asked a question he would just give factual answers, until he was asked about the girl he likes, then he went off on one. A scene later and he's taking interest in why the 30 year old guy is bad (bonding over a mutual dislike) quickly followed by the fact he actually cares for his family. It goes on. Hollywood manages the exact opposite, everyone is 1 dimensional and they're not even trying to hit stereotypes!

i like how the characters grow more nuanced and developed, with more flaws but they are somewhat more sympathetic, really very good.

Glad Elliot had a someone who cares about him, with enough work he may be able to turn things around.

It's like, there's bits of Elliot where you think maybe he's a salvageable human being. And then he says something colossally stupid. 10/10 work. Just like the real thing.

Man, I've dealt with so many people who don't listen to others or learn from their mistakes. You're clearly speaking from a place of experience. I feel your pain man.
