Ok Ricky was the original drummer way back before they even had an album out before striking out on his own with Blackfoot, Gary was the least talented guitarist of the three original and while Johnny does a decent job covering his brothers songs that is exactly what they are cover songs. Billy could tickle the ivory like no other and Leon was good too but they should have called the band something else and wrote their own history in the journals of rock and roll, and they did write some great tunes.

They used to play at Playground South and Big Daddy's Lounge. Fixed his ford van couple times, moved some gear with them . Those guys were hard working and I felt privileged to be there and work beside them. Wow times do fly. Still play all the music Lynyrd Skynyrd all of it, and Kid Rock as well. RIP Gary Rossington the last founding and original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. You guys are one of the greatest bands of all time. Fly high FREEBIRD Brother🕊
@RebeccaHarville-tr8ec Жыл бұрын
You got that right brother!
@americansamiam Жыл бұрын
Gary was indeed a great guitarist and the band was an original no doubt. However, Ricky Medlocke was originally in Skynyrd as drummer before forming the great Blackfoot band. Ricky came back to the band as guitarist and he is a true American rocker - Great singer and guitarist.
@americansamiam Жыл бұрын
@CluelessGamer66 Yes Billy was an original member but my reply was about the last remaining original member - Ricky Medlocke was an original member. He left to do Blackfoot (greatness also) before coming back 20 years or so ago as guitarist instead of drummer. Artiumus Pyle is an original member ( after Ricky) but he has never been back with the group with Johnny as singer. The band has put out new music (some really good music and some just ok) so it wasnt just a tribute band. At this point however, I prefer to have Johnny do his thing with Donnie (van zant brothers) and have Ricky do Solo thing.

Wow that must have been AMAZING to see both bands on one bill, must have been a fantastic show! I've seen ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd at two different shows, both bands have everyone up singing and dancing - everyone knew the words - how could you not, most of us had listened to their music for years - we grew up with this vibe everywhere, what a great time. I've got great memories of that time and the freedom we had 'back in the day's. What a time to grow up - when music was music! Thank you so much from your fans!
