Unless I'm mistaken, crocodiles don't really like fresh meat. They'll take you underwater, drown you, and then jam your body under something so they can come back for it later. Unfortunately, that is probably what happened to Brett and why the crocodile didn't have him in its mouth when it resurfaced.

#KiddandCee I worked at the zoo in education as a guest informational guide. A lot of people don't realize that a saltwater crocodile is truly different from an American alligator. They are both dangerous creatures but the difference is that a saltwater crocodile stalks its praying until they actually get you but a American alligator sometimes don't really pay you no mind unless you in their territory.... If you both have time please watch those two horror films "Black River" or "Rogue" MrBallin mentioned that was based or inspired by this event. It's really creepy, scary and realistic. Plus the films have you thinking about not going on any River fishing or on a tour boat sightseeing in Australia when you vacating.

I’m from Far North Queensland Australia and live in Western Queensland Australia now, you have to realise that Saltwater Crocodiles are one of the smartest creatures on the planet, they likely store food which is why it was probably waiting for the other 2 men in the tree

I remember years ago I worked for an earthmoving company in Darwin,we where doing all the earthworks for a new sub division of housing,storm drains,roads etc,anyway we had a storm and was washed out for a couple of days,when we returned everything was flooded so started puming water out of drains etc then heard some thrahing around noises coming from the concrete pipes we had installed a few days earlier,we called it a day and went home...lol
@bradleyholdom96779 ай бұрын
As soon as Brett slipped that first time, he was the target. Crocodiles arent dumb like Alligators. That Crocodile knew who too target based on a weakness, and that weakness was slipping for even a second.

The easy way to remember which is which is alligators are predominantly American (found in places like the Mississippi River, Florida, etc), whereas crocodiles & their other relatives, like caimans, are everywhere else, especially Australia, Africa, eastern India, & south-eastern Asia (yes, I'm talking about both freshwater & saltwater crocs). Also, in pictures, alligators have a rounded nose while crocodiles & the rest have more pointed, slim noses. I for one respect all those others, but I absolutely love caimans; IDK, I just find them kinda cute. An extra note: I saw someone comment somewhere that chances are the crocodile didn't eat Brett yet; it put him under the mangroves to eat later (& yes, they tend to do that if they know no other predator is going to get their prey).

According to google: If its prey is too large to be swallowed at once, the alligator will store its kill underwater by wedging it under a log or tree root. After some time, the prey's meat becomes rotted and soft enough for the gator to tear off chunks.

After listening to this story, I actually watched those 2 films that were inspired by this situation. Black Water's adaptation is closer to what really happened as the film Rogue takes more creative liberties but both deal with saltwater crocodiles.
@randalmayeux8880 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that saltie just stashed their friend away to age a bit so he could eat it later. He came back to wait for the other two so he could do the same with them. It's best not to get in a swollen river.
@MrsJasmyn458 ай бұрын
Alligators and crocodiles may be in the same family. However, crocodiles are far more vicious than alligators. Where an alligator won't bother you much unless you're in its terf. A crocodile doesn't care how long it has to wait. But, the saltwater crocodile has the strongest bite force on the planet at 3,700 psi. Enough to not only hold you in place but to crush your bones as well.

They where all strong swimmers. The only reason why the other 2 caught up to Brett was because they where swimming with the current whilst Brett was just floating. The entire reason why Brett didn’t make it to the tree is because he was ambushed by the Croc.

33:48 Saltwater Crocodile 🐊 can reach a length of 23 fr or 25ft . Can also weight anywhere between a ton or 2 tons or 2000 pounds to 4000 pounds Yeah, they hyper carnivore and a lot of hyper carnivores will kill multiple prey items at once even if they’re well fed. Which in this case This 13 footer already got a 1 , but he wanted the other 2 ….. that’s just how they are

Hi first time watching I love to watch this show is well, alligators crocodiles they don't eat right away they bite and drown you and twirl you around in the water that death row that they do, and they bury you under a log of something until you start to rot that's when they get down he just wanted the buffet, but let's keep watching thumbs up

This crocodile would have 100% been a victim of poaching. Crocodiles are very intelligent so if they have been hunted by a human they become petty real quick and all of a sudden we're all on the menu.

Well actually in reality the crocodile did not eat the guy at first, it more than likely took his body to a location where he could grab it later, then come back to try to kill the other two, because the crocodile knows that they can't go anywhere, crocodiles are really smart knowing that things that swim on top of the water, more than likely can't survive long under water, so therefore they are easy targets, So the crocodile knows it's just a matter of time for them to have to come down, so it's just a waiting game.

Most of the time crocodiles or alligators they don't always eat their prey they will bury it for later and then if they see more prey they will attack and save them too. I'm not an expert but I heard some od that. Anyone who does know plz let me know if I'm wrong or right

Okay, I’m going to be real; should they locate the crocodile, it’s murder. The teens were on their territory and such regardless of their temperamental behavior, what did you expect when you go into a location known for the wildlife and dangers even if you did grow up there. Living in a dangerous place, you avoid or listen to your instincts to survive longer. It’s sad for Brett and I wish he didn’t have to die, but they shouldn’t have ignored their instincts and just left well enough alone.
