Big Martha, a very special lady! Watch her every time she appears on KZbin. Reminds me of my wonderful Polish Mother, gone since 1993. Never get over losing our mothers.

For breakfast at Easter in my home we usually ate ham and raw hot sausage, also smoked sausage cooked as Marta shows. Fresh horseradish is very important. Good rye bread and fresh butter from the farmer are also part of the tradition.

Those smoked kielbasa look fine, however all Polish people I know prefer FRESH kielbasa. It's the most delicious sausage in the world, certainly better than smoked. It's always cooked the way they show, sliced on the diagonal, and browned in the oven, never on a charcoal grill. Yes, absolutely, served with horseradish!

Raw sausage boiled in water in my home is only eaten on Easter. We like smoked sausage, but smoke from fruit trees or deciduous trees.

First, I appreciate this recipe so much. Every Easter I struggle to find the right cooking timing for boiling and then baking (sadly, my mother died so can’t ask her) but never remember the timing of each. But this year I could not find it on Google til I checked KZbin and specifically looked for your method. In one of your cookbooks you mentioned that your Easter dinner is pretty much the same as ours. And if that wasn’t enough, your Mom got her bread at Gold’s Deli - my favorite! I buy my nova there. (I live in on the Westport line in Norwalk.) Many thanks to you and your Mom for this demo.
