There's a setting for deathswap where it kills all pearls in the air when you swap. You can turn it off by doing /dssettings killPearls false. The default setting is true, which is why your pearls didn't work.

It kept attacking me, and it did like 50dmg to my shield a hit. Then i think it hit me twice and got me down to 5 hearts. Slimes really cant jump that high, and they dont do as much damage,

the pearls aren't working because your throwing them to early and there hitting the ground as your being swapped so the swap overrides the pearl if you throw it later then it should work.

That’s not it. Especially the second one, it was thrown too high for that to happen. Another comment mentioned that this particular plugin kills pearls on swapping (which I can not confirm, but seems highly plausible), so it’s more likely that.
