The way the screen becomes tinted pink and sparkly makes me wonder if Tom's feelings is his own will. Kiki can revive people, it'd make sense if she can alter the mind too. Although, if someone believes their love is true then, is it? It's the truth for them at least. If someone believes a tree fell with absolution, does it matter if it fell or not? Either way I'm already deeply invested in these characters, the animation and acting is great.

I've always found duos like these incredibly existentially horrifying, while also being weirdly wholesome. Sure, you have a good partner who can keep your safe from near anything and literally bring you back from the dead, but at the same time she's basically an innocent god-like being with full dominion over your life, playing with the monsters and horrors after you like harmless baby animals, ignoring your pleas for help and showing no concern for you until its too late. Presuming you retain memories of your death, and the pain you feel during it, it would be a waking nightmare, a hell of living, dying, and living again. How long before this "innocent" ally turns into an unaware but demented tormentor, letting you slowly dissolve in a "hot tub" of pretty and shiny acid that couldn't _possibly_ hurt, despite your garbled screams suggesting otherwise, or watching you burn alive rather than putting you out just to make a joke along the lines of "Wow, you're so hot!" Ignorance is bliss, yet in the wrong cases it can be just the opposite. And in this case, what differentiates the slug from Tom? What power over his own life and death does his have, when if he tries to escape he might just get chased down and kept on a tighter leash, or worse, punished for being "rude?" But then again, it seems like he's happy enough with his predicament. Well, most of the time.

@@cloverdove Yeah! If they become recurring characters I hope we get to see them overcome their situation rather than it become a personal hell for Tom and the dynamic stay stale. I'd personally love a revelation moment for Kiki, where she realizes what she's put Tom through, maybe she feels pain for the first time? It could be really interesting!

This is a excellent comment, summarizes quite well why I love this Faerie-esque trope. (That's the best way I can put it at least. Inhuman tricksters binding you forever, y'know?) It's a great, versatile gimmick, always love whenever a story uses it. Whether for horror or wholesome, I eat that stuff up reverently.

What I love about this channel’s style is its ability to make you feel on edge. The stark contrast between the bleak, dark surroundings and the cutsieness of characters like Kiki is really unnerving. It makes you not want to trust them, even though there’s no inherent danger present. They always feel out of place in their environment, and it achieves the effect really well.
