It really does feel great to be able to do stuff on your own, even if it’s something small like changing a tire or fixing a shelf in your house (you have to start somewhere). I think the good feeling comes from knowing you can handle anything and reassuring yourself that you’re not too dumb, weak, or helpless to take care of things on your own. See, look at you! You got this. Remodeling just takes the will to do it. The skills, most of them anyway, are easy to learn. I've remodeled 3 homes mostly myself. Set up a good tool area in the garage and a workspace and once you have the right tools, you can do pretty much anything. Sometimes you need more muscle for lifting or turning a wrench on a decades old pipe, but you've got that in your beefy hubby, so you're good to go. I'm 58 now so don't really want to do it anymore, but I've replaced toilets, fixtures, done custom molding, built an office and kitchen, replaced tubs and floors, all of it. Things I don't recommend you do yourself: removing tile floors (major mess and hard on the hands), toilets (just cuz it's messy and stinks), welding of pipes, plumbing (unless you have your FIL tell you all the steps and inspect it after), and running electrical to the box as that should be inspected and hooked up by a pro. Removing popcorn ceilings (major mess and hard on the shoulders) Rest, trust me, you are capable of doing yourself. Decide what you want to do, check KZbin for it, and just make it happen. Do make sure you don't tear down a load bearing wall, but otherwise, there's not much you can mess up that you can't fix.

Girl you got this. That's how you learn. I do all the diy and home updates/ remodeling in my house. You just have to give everything a go.. worst case, you mess up and have to start again..Best case, you nail it and impress yourself. My advice, get a Chop Saw. It's incredibly easy to use and a life saver for diy projects. Table Saw is also incredibly handy, but slightly more intimidating. Either one, just get through your first cut anxiety and you will be just fine.
