I'd like to stress that autotune =/= bad. Prime example being Nikes by Frank Ocean. Look up the version without autotune. He has hell of a voice. Another example being Mississippi by Kevin Abstract. He's not even singing on the track. It's simply there for the sound. It goes perfectly with the instrumental.
@DeceasedDuck5 жыл бұрын
Joshuca I love your point, while I do hate autotune, I just feel like only some people need it. One artist Charlie Puth has perfect pitch so he won’t have to use autotune.

Freddie put the journey of the hero inside of a music! We first here an introduction. Then we hear the hero in the normal world where he is ordinary and sad. When the operatic section comes is when the hero enter the special world where he discover new things and challenges. The rock section is the climax. And finally the outro, it's when the hero returns to the normal world but now completely changed. Freddie was a freaking genius!

Nina Definitely. He did have A couple vocal blunders, but it’s not like he was putting everything he had into that at the moment. I heard their free-concerts in Hyde Park, and I couldn’t believe how beautiful his voice was back then and it’s been so long I had forgotten. With age, Freddie Mercury had a little bit of a growl to his voice at times and his vocals became much stronger and more powerful! Freddie Mercury is by far the best male front man and band vocalist of all time. I was looking at a top 10 on KZbin and they had Freddie Mercury listed as number two and Robert Plant listed as number one. I disagree and I think it’s the other way around. Robert Plant was good looking to those women and he did have a good voice, but even his voice was not Close to perfect like Freddie Mercury’s. As a front man, Freddie Mercury had it all and then some. In the 1970s earlier on, people didn’t know what to think of his kind of performing but then towards the late 70s & 1980s people loved it! The performances became huge with their “news of the world” album.

I closed my eyes and imagined a scene of them all, standing in front of Freddie and his piano as he plays to them, reacting to what they're hearing. John, standing there with his hands on his hips, gives a little smirk. With his hands in his pockets, Roger looks at Brian and smiles showing his teeth. Brian looks at Roger then looks back at Freddie and chuckles under his breath with one hand under his elbow and his other hand on his chin, thinking. All 3 of them look at each other smiling, watching their best friend play in front of them. Freddie finishes and asks "well, what do you think?". Brian, in his innocent British accent, says "yeah it's good". Freddie replies "good darling? I think it's a bloody masterpiece". Roger, in his rough high pitched voice "I like it Fred". And John, in his soft voice, "I think it's perfect". Freddie, in his excitement gives a big smile to the other 3, showing his teeth. They all chuckle amongst themselves, thinking of the potential it has and what is yet to come.

Those opening bars at 1:57 are the ones Dr. May was discussing on IG with fans a couple of months ago. This was how Freddie intended the beginning to go, but it's been "corrupted" (that's too strong a word, but anyway) -- it's EVOLVED a little over time in our ears to what we "hear" today. What I mean by that is the available sheet music simply does not follow what we hear in this version. In short, Freddie "starts on 1" here but that's not the way most of us "hear it" today nor how today's sheet music scores (for piano) present it to us. Sorry for the intense detail. This early version just corroborates the conversation in a way I hadn't heard it before. Way to go, BM! (Thanks!)
@kikoimamura5 жыл бұрын
Dear Janet! Great that you mentioned that discussion! I had completely forgotten that! I hadn't noticed (as you very cleverly did) that this edition confirms that Freddie starts the song on "1"!!! Amazing! And that specially because, by the time of that discussion, I did had in my mind that the song started after "1". Really amazing! Thanks for bringing that up again! :-)
@JanetWilliams015 жыл бұрын
@@kikoimamura It was pretty special to be in that kind of IG discussion with Brian May who "heard it" and "recorded it" just like Freddie sings it here. And weird to think we're all playing it on piano ever so slightly wrong. (Sort of. Hard to explain.) It felt oddly like going back in time and sitting with the band and saying, "Yeah, so what's going on here in this spot?" And then getting an answer. I had to pinch myself.

Absolutely wonderfully done, as a musician myself, it made me feel as though myself,and my band mates were listening to our pianist tell us to settle down,lol and listen to this, ive come up with a song I think you,ll all enjoy, im always anxious to hear anothers passion, there talent keeps me feeling fresh, and interested, Freddie while playing this as a guitarist I know Brian was sitting there thinking of how he would put his guitar parts to this piece, he must have, its what I do when a neww idea or piece of music is being presented to us, any one of us has the floor when it comes to presenting a song for the band, we let our ears do all the work,lol plus our own beating hearts, catch the magic that seems to float by as the song is being played, you can grasp on to it til its gone, its then we look at each other and say well, its something ive been toolin with, lol lets try that again, this time ,then we begin to build onto it, sometimes its what you leave out that makes a song even better, I think, like a sculptor he only removes whats blocking the true sculpture , taking away anything that he feels is keeping you from seeing his master piece , I feel the same way he does, I try my best to convey my true feelings only to a point to which the emotion already has you in its grasp, I think its a team effort, when 4 or 5 guys can agree on another band mates idea, and work with him as if we,re all sharing the same brain so to speak, in any case, this was genius , it completely made me feel as if I was telling everyone to please bear with me as ive come up with something id like for all of you to hear, please sit down , its remarkable, K.I. no less a wonderfully done video, to be sure, thank you for posting , Freddie was a awesome composer, /musician I may have been born too late to see him live, but you tube has allowed me to see a master of musical talent at work, and for this I thank you with all my heart, very well done K.I. I Love Freddie,s voice, and his piano playing, also his guitar playing , he did what he felt he was born to do,and did just that, PERFORMED !! that he did without a doubt, and did it GREAT !!! Love it, very inspiring ,yes, I do believe so, very much so, yes, Love it, sincerely, W.H.W. 9-29-19

I totally understand you! I am a musician too and had a Queen tribute band. I haven't had a band with authoral work, but can understand what you said of hearing the song for the first time, thinking what kind of inputs you could make to it. That's a thrilling moment! Glad that you got the spirit of this version :)

Im graced by your very kind words K.I. im positively sure brian may was sitting there running a scale pattern or some single notes through his head as he was sitting there listening to Freddie play , I try an do my best to enhance to song, but im careful not to smother the song by noting it to death, lol, similar to mays playing its like his notes were meant to be there, I too want to make it feel like every note you hear anyone who hears it will get the same response, like it belongs there ,you wouldn't drive a car with 3 wheels on it,lol its a sort of way I using a way to describe a car comes with 4 wheels, same as a airplane comes with its propeller , my band has a 2nd guitarist, I love a 2 or 3 harmony sound in playing single notes, without leading it or smothering it to death, ill request several takes for what we all think is a finished song, we all make direct eye contact with each other , ill ask whats everyone thinking, tell the truth, it can go well into the night, with these song writing meetings or band practice if you please, if we all don't come to a 100% agreement on a song, next time we get together unless we have another song or piece to record we,ll go back and try to finish that last song, we have people come in and give us there opinions on what we,ve done, I let,em know don't ever be worried about being honest if anything that's what I want most from you, if nothing else, please tell me the absolute truth , till we all reach that pinnacle of absolute master piece feeling its not a good song, and wont be til we get this ironed out, it can get thick, and bumpy, to the point of wanting to nearly fight, or holding another guy back, theres nothing easy about it, for me ,most of the cover bands ive been in were a charm because everything was laid out, but composing your own songs can get and cause an eruption between all band members ,and fast, it requires much,much more from you to compose your own material than to cover another bands music, that I learned early on, it wasn't until, composing our own piano,guitar parts, the drums, etc, its an never ending story, and battle if I can be perfectly honest with you K.I. but in the end, when you see people singing along with you, or singing your song by them selves theres nothing more gratifying to me as a musician who composes and writes my own music , the reward far out weighs anything ive ever loved in this world, standing there watching the crowds ,seeing there smilling faces, watching them dance, and sing our songs ,there is no bigger or better reward in the world to me, and all those fights, arguments , frustrating moments , being a part of a live rocking band makes it all worth it, for me as a guitarist ,yes, its all worth it to me for sure, theres nothing id rather be doing , and id do it all over again, I absolutely ,positively LOVE IT !!!

@@The68lespaul I understand you. Having your band with your own songs is quite a different and much more difficult level. Even though it was surely a tribute, I always felt ashamed that, playing in a Queen tribute band, I didn't have any effort to have a public, as the work had already been done by Queen. And I felt ashamed because I could see so many great musicians I knew fighting for their careers, while I could have more public in my concert than they had. Quite unfair. Got curious to hear your band songs, especially because you mentioned you love make harmonies in the guitars and I am crazy about Brian and his Red Special (as you can see in my channel, I have organized a Red Special Meeting here). If possible, please post links to your band's material :)

Being in a Queen tribute band is a feat within its self, for me learning Mays feel took some time, his playing inspired me ,as do a lot of awesome guitarists out there, please,dont mis understand me, back as a teen, I saw and wanted to be just like some of my favorite guitarists ,I wanted to sound like,em play the same guitar as they did, same amp, etc, plus I had a great time playing all my favorite songs by all the guitarists I idolized, but I found myself, becoming bored with playing same songs, so I would buy another album or CD to check if I had missed anything I might have missed that I might want to learn because like the other songs ill enjoy playing it, but once you play those same songs so many times ,you want to see what you have inside yourself, now that ive reached a point in my playing, I felt it was time for me to in a sense move on, not away from all my inspirations of the guitarists ive come to learn and get a feel of how they do there thing, each one had something to offer, besides making me frustrated at times because id get stuck or couldn't find the correct patterns or notes in the sequence that its played in, a lot of guitarists develop there own way of playing chords, take alex lifeson he took up classical music for 2 to 3 yrs he combined classical with rock chords, and made up his own new chords, makin it a little harder to find what he was doing, his tricks don't stop there there,s several guitarists that do the same thing, they re-invent themselves by creating new chords an patterns, or a sequence of notes , bends ,etc, to me now I look at the guitar as an extension of my imagination, making up my own patterns, runs and sequences in how I construct my notes and chords, the guitar is nothing more than a way to express ones self , your inner most self, you,ll never talk about a guitarists that doesn't do something for you, as many as there are out there in the world, you have to think, what can I do to make myself stand out, while keeping in mind be true to yourself, you don't necessarily don't have to cram a 100 notes in 2 seconds , so many guitarists get caught up in there idols my self included, im no different, guilty here, I wanted something more, before I die,lol I feel I want to leave my best work , I want to capture powerful emotion as all my favorite guys did , I Loved what I heard that made me want to learn how to play, now all I want to do is play along side ,em , while I think an excellent vocal harmony is just as important as a guitar harmonies, queen,s voice harmonies are vocal harmonies are awesome, ive come a long way in my journey ,been crazy influenced by some of the greatest guitarists on earth, learned ,em played ,em loved ,em and always will, now its my turn at taking my chances at it, I don't want to let myself grow old and regret not having tried to write several hits for the world to enjoy, I compose for me, to challenge myself to see where my abilities take me, im curious to see the re action of people when they listen to what ive created, right now im in the middle of writing a ballard that I hope billions of people love and will want to hear over an over, plus I hope they go out and buy my 2nd album, lol, that's nice too , but I cant leave til my work is done, I still enjoy playing my old favorites, especially before a show, honestly , it takes me a few minutes to warm up back stage , I have to loosen up my fingers get,em nice and ready for at least 1 to 2 hrs of hard playing, bending, etc, all that an than some,lol it may sound a little crazy but yes, I do take a few min. to warm up, before I go on, im not one that okay we have a song list of the covers were playing tonight, if that's the case, I can walk right out onto the stage, and start playing, one last thing ive noticed over the yrs, as good as the bands ive been in and having a ton of people saying you guys play rush perfectly, or you guys rip up on triumph , great job on rockin the bar tonight guys , that's so fucking boring , my new band is all my own material, ive had guys audition and say we have to play covers to get in the clubs, , I tell,em ill be in touch, im through with clubbing, we,ve been mainly opening acts for bigger bands , you,ll hit it one day or maybe your happy with being in a tribute band and that's fine, nothing wrong with it, it just wasn't for me, well not any longer , I guess you could say ive moved on to produce me, to let the world hear what im about, same as Freddie , I feel like a natural born performer , im the happiest I ever am when im on stage playing my own songs and watching the crowd loving it, that's my high, its what I love most in my life , im not going to change it or settle for anything less than what I feel or want to do, im never going to let anything get in my way of achieving that, no way, its my life its all I want to do, is play my guitar, and sing, with a world famous band ,and hopefully write some songs that hit on billboards top 10 ,id like to see my songs as NO.1 hits on billboards top 100 rock hits , that's the kind of passion I think one should have plus the confidence to back it up, don't let anyone ever tell you no, or you cant, don't listen to jealous or haters there only trying to bring you down to be bored and unhappy like they are with there boring lives, I say fuck,em do what turns you on K.I. continue being a rockin machine, lol I hope you break out and follow your dreams , you only get this one chance so who you going to listen to ? if you asked me that , my ans. would be MYSELF BITCHES,lol, !!!

The song is Great! We need to put this on vinyl! That’s what I would have said after listening to it if I was a band member. The music without the lyrics is mesmerizing. Freddie’s vocals. There will never be anybody that could ever sing the way he did. They can’t come close, but they wouldn’t be able to put the feeling Freddie had. Or the spirit either. Its so sad that the world lost him at such a young age, and that he had so much more to give to us all. But Freddie, and Queen will never die with all the Great songs they produced, and are still listened to by fans today.
