Wow, absolutely AMAZING! Not just because of the views of the fountain but you’re also pointing out all those other little things. Thank you so much, thát’s what makes it feel like we’re there. The poking things with a stick, looking down holes and cracks, thát’s what makes it real. And I could listen to you talk about this all day. The running commentary is what I love so much about your vids. Because it’s not just the pretty pictures, it’s all of it that makes this so special.

Just a suggestion as you often seem lost for words or discussion topics for your early morning videos from your back yard, how about talking to us about some of the thoughts you have had in regards to the major change in landscape this is having. I assume that you have driven down many of the roads that are no longer there. I myself (as I'm sure many others have as well) have looked at satellite photos of what the estates area looked like and then compare it to the fly over pictures of today with just miles and miles of black scorched earth. What are your thoughts as an islander? Thank you again for all that you do to bring us along with you on this adventure.

P & M can't wait to tell their friends at school tomorrow about the "lavascicles". I think they are probably about the most educated & up to date 1st & 2nd graders in Minnesota in regards to Kilauea, lava & volcanoes in general....aside from the generic overview they get in science class, volcanoes aren't something high up on the topic list around here. So thank you once again for the incredible education your commentary and videos provide! Stay safe!

You are the best at posting several videos throughout the day and I can’t wait each day to wake up to see what’s in store! There is so much learning going on here. Just fantastic . I feel like I'm going on this incredible journey, a virtual classroom field trip and Scott, you even give pop up quizzes! If I had to guess, which I do, I would venture to observe that given that the lava cools relatively quick and when the flow loses the force driving it along, the voids made are something like the bread dough analogy you made a while ago, and it cools like baked bread. Maybe that's a poor analogy. Just one tiny example of the world of learning opportunities you are sharing .........it's a very exciting adventure. Thank you so much .

How's it Scott, sounds like you got some good sleep. At least you sound more chipper this morning. Watching you test the lava was hilarious. Reminds me of when we found our yard full of pahoehoe after the hurricane blew all of our tree's down. You never know where the holes are or what may suddenly give way. Take a care cause I was wearing my flip flops out on ours one day while weeding and stepped into a crack and scraped my heel half off. It took some good 91% alcohol to cleanse it and boy did it sting. It left a nasty scat too, to remind me to not be such an idiot next time and wear proper shoes when out on the pahoehoe. LOL Mahalo

Hi Scott!! That lava "wall" has to be at least 20 ft tall, before you get to the top.. and very hot lol. Love the new terms: lavacicles... honking big trees, and a Bless You for your sneeze. Think about it Scott! There's heat coming out of a tree mould because lower down the lava is still hot. I you fell thru a weak surface you'd probably get burnt by the residual heat of the lava lower down. Consider what risks there could be to your actions. Thanks for your update.

@subiedoo70116 жыл бұрын
Carla Ott , Great observation and Question to Scott from ApauHawaiiTours! I can not say that you are correct or not because I am not an expert, but to help answer your question... "The pahoehoe flow has a comparatively smooth or "ropy" surface. The surface of the a'a flow consists of free chunks of very angular pieces of lava. This difference in form reflects flow dynamics. A'a forms when lava flows rapidly." Source: Lava Types - Pahoehoe and A'a www.geo.cornell.edu/geology/GalapagosWWW/LavaTypes.html I Hope this answers your question and for additional information about the Different Lava Types: Pahoehoe and A'a please click on the link above^^^ Thank you to everyone for your comments and and questions to Scott at ApauHawaiiTours by watching this video!
