Imagine being roped in to a chain of 6 people in full winter gear and breathing apparatus, slowly and safely trudging up the cold sides of mount everest feeling a great sense of self acomplishment for the hardships you have faced so far.... Then this guy runs past you in short shorts waves hello and zooms up the mountain :)

He needed to do it "again" because he didn't do it the first time. He felt guilty. He knew that the job was not done. Then even the second time he can't show any convincing proof. Very bad style. Jornet is an extraordinary athlete, a legend, but he is lousy at documenting his achievement in the case of mont everest. Really disappointing. Ruins a lot.

Both times he climbed solo, without the use of supplemental oxygen, without fixed ropes, and without reliance on supplies or support. In fact, theres only 1 sherpa who has achieved similar feat in the past. Kilian was largely my inspiration to travel to chamonix mont blanc several years ago and sprint up some of the mountains in the valley. At this point in my life, I had been running about 10km a day in Montreal. Unlike Kilian, however, my lungs were not as adapted to the mountains as my legs were. By the time I would reach 3000 m, I would experience vertigo and oxygen deprivation, the was a scuba diver would if they ascend from low depths too quickly. What I consider to be personal feats that I may never surpass would be to him nothing more than a morning routine.
