I saw this in the theaters. Imagine the cinema going completly pitch black, and all you can hear is her breath when she starts to panic, and the dirt that is being thrown on top of her, as she is being burried alive. It was a terrifying scene to go through. Amazing movie. Amazing writing and amazing cast.

My favorite part of the trailer fight scene is how many times Beatrix intentionally stopped Elle Driver from unsheathing her sword. A subtle way of saying “No that’s my sword, you’re not worthy” such genius choreography.
@ScientificallyStupid
@ScientificallyStupid 2 жыл бұрын
The fight choreography in the trailer fight tops any other fight in both movies, for me. The way they utilized the trailer- the narrowness, the flimsy walls, the hallway...and you get those character moments that show more of Elle's history with Beatrix as well during the fight...genius.

Elle, being unworthy, kind of says it all. A new revelation just came to me as I watched this reaction. It's really kind of unrealistic for Elle to be training with Pai Mei. He would have seen right through her and turned her away. Don't you think? Only thing, it was a vehicle for Beatrix's final revenge upon her, avenging her master Kung fu style.

"Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey." Fun Fact: At the end of "Pulp Fiction", when Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) says that he's going to walk the earth like Caine in "Kung Fu", Bill (David Carradine) is who played Caine. Also, the Beatrix-Elle fight is one of the best fights in cinema history. It's so brutal, so visceral and you can really feel the enmity between the two of them. "Bitch, you don't have a future" is one of the most cold blooded one liners ever, just epic.

Lol kung fu practitioner here, the style she was using to fight with Pai Mei and the method she used to take the eye out was not actually crane, but shequan, the snake style. It’s hand gestures are the same utilizing a spear fist, or extending the fingers, and striking vulnerable areas, however snake is largely considered one of the most deadly of the kung fu forms for reasons you’ve just seen. It is indeed used to strike at and out the eyes, as well as targeting other vital areas of the pressure point system including the throat, groin, and diaphragm right under the chest which controls breathing, as well as utilizing wrapping techniques with arms and legs to break opponents down one limb at a time. This style is often accompanied by speed and gymnastic ability however certain forms may utilize strength and ground striking and grappling. The style is quite literally designed to mimic snakes not only in movement but the very effects of venom as well by crippling, blinding and suffocating your opponent. Very hard to actually pull the eye out but as far as movies go, very accurate depiction of what it’s intended to do.
@shanelogan630
@shanelogan630 Жыл бұрын
To clarify, she quan is a defensive art, though often perverted for offensive use, it is supposed to mimic snakes purposefully in understanding the mindset of the snake which simply wants to be left alone. Snake style like all animal martial arts, should mimic not only the movements but the mindset of the animal that it follows. Snake is often seen used as an offensive form when it should be used wisely and strictly for defensive purposes.

OK here's a little fun fact..... Do you remember the scene in Pulp Fiction with Mia Wallace (Uma) and Vincent Vega (John) when they were at the diner and Mia was telling Vincent about a Pilot she did for a TV show? the name of the TV show was called "Fox Force 5." Mia said Fox Force 5 was a team of female secret agents (5 of them) and each agent had a specialty, the black girl was a demolition expert, the Japanese girl was a Kung Fu master, and the blonde character that Mia played her specialty was knives. The assassination team in Kill bill is Fox Force 5, the only difference is bud, bill's brother is the 5th member of the assassination squad instead of a female. That was Quentin Tarantino's hint in Pulp Fiction for what his next movie was gonna be. Pulp Fiction came out in 94, kill bill came out in 2003.

The flute that David Carradine plays during "The Massacre At Two Pines" chapter was made by Carradine himself. It is reportedly the same flute he used for the movie The Silent Flute (AKA Circle of Iron, 1979) and the flute he carried along with him during the entirety of his portrayal of Caine in the Kung Fu television series. During the shooting of Kill Bill 2, Tarantino decided that this flute was the best way for Bill to tell the back story.

Kill Bill Vol. 2, while not as action packed as the 1st, was more powerful to me, especially on a psychological level. From seeing more of Uma Thurman's past of being betrayed by Bill & the gang, to her almost being buried alive, her fight scene in the trailer, finally meeting her daughter, & the final confrontation with Bill, were all just very stunning & amazing for me. The homages to movies from the 70s, especially Martial Arts films in this case, just shows the brilliance of Tarantino. I'm glad you both checked it out & hope you'll definitely check out another one of his films in the future. Another great film director that's also friends with Tarantino & collaborated with him & vice versa, is Robert Rodriguez who directed some great films that actually had Tarantino join for not only writing screenplays, but also made cameos in Rodriguez's films like, Desperado & From Dusk Till Dawn. Plus, their double feature tribute to grind house movies in the past back in 2007, that being Rodriguez with Planet Terror & Tarantino with Death Proof, is a perfect example of their collaboration, more so, great films to check out for pure entertainment.

I wish y'all had continued to watch it all the way through the credits where they show everyone and the roles they played. Some people played multiple characters, like the man who played both the sheriff and the pimp, or the guy who played the leader of the Crazy 88 and Pai Mei. Also, there's a bonus touching moment where it goes through all of Uma Thurman's alias' in the movie, like Black Mamba/Beatrix Kiddo, and ends with "mommy". Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.

So glad you guys enjoyed the ride!! It's hard to say which Tarantino film is my favorite, but Kill Bill holds a place in my heart - in the end credits when Beatrix's aliases are listed (aka The Bride, aka Black Mamba....) it always gets me when "aka Mommy" comes up. Dang, Quentin! Such a genius and an unexpectedly heart-filled storyteller. As a little kid we had this VHS rental store nearby and they had a few posters from recent films up on the walls. I remember looking up at this huge yellow poster of a woman in a black and yellow suit with the title "Kill Bill." It always stood out to me and whenever we went to the store I would just stare at it, curiously; and it was easy for a kid to remember because the title rhymed. Fast forward to high school and I finally sought out the films on my own. I'm forever grateful to that little girl whose eye was drawn to that poster and never forgot about it (she had great taste and didn't even know it 😊😆). Weird, but also cool how some stories feel like they call to us and wait for us to come to them. I guess that's another reason why this movie is so special to me. Fun fact is that when we find out The Bride's name is Beatrix Kiddo, not only do we get it why Bill's nickname for her is "kiddo" but there's a hint in Vol. 1 at her name when she and O-Ren say "Silly rabbit, TRIX are for KIDS" Also, if you go back to the grave when the guy is digging and the original coffin is open off to the side, one of the corpse's hands is sticking up and in the lighting, the hand casts a shadow that looks like a bunny rabbit. Yup. 😂 That grave escape sequence is beyond incredible! I felt Asia's reaction when she finally climbs out! 🙌🏻Uma brings it with this performance; I believe the background info on "created by Q & U" is that Quentin and Uma were workshopping this story about a bride while filming Pulp Fiction. Finally, I just love the parallel to Vol. 1 beginning with Bill's betrayal set to "he shot me down, bang bang. My baby shot me down." And then when Beatrix finds her daughter, her baby, B.B. "shoots" her, "Bang! Bang! Mommy." Loved BJ vibing to the music in the final showdown, my favorite song in the movie too!

BJ, there's nothing to check out. It was created by Q & U. (Q)uentin Tarentino & (U)ma Thurman. They collaborated on the idea for the movie while they were shooting Pulp Fiction, they thought of the idea during the shoot. The closest thing, you've already seen is when Uma tell John Travota about the pilot she shot for "Fox Force Five" during their date in Pulp Fiction. You can hear when she describes it, it sounds very close to the plot of Kill Bill....

Uma Thurman's father is a Buddhist scholar and the Dalai Llama used to stay at their house when she was growing up. Y'all should also review the 2002 musical "Chicago" if you have never seen it before. I have never seen a review for it online, maybe that's because of copyright lol but even if you can't do a video on it you should watch it

I was in tears the first time I saw Beatrix bust through that casket. I was terrified for her and even knowing it was a movie, I was in my feels. The films were originally supposed to be just one long film, but the way it is now, meant Tarantino didn’t have to sacrifice anything. No deleted scenes means we saw it all. Fantastic film(s).

If y'all go down the Tarantino rabbit hole I'd recommend Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Inglorious Bastards, Django Unchained, From Dusk til Dawn and Four Room's. He also directs a scene in Sin City but if y'all do that make sure you do the theatrical release and NOT the director's cut. I love how even though your channel is growing you still take the time to put a heart on every comment and respond to a good number.
