Hey man, this really sucks, but having had content brought down by Sony Music for using Kill La Kill footage (but I didn't recieve a strike, jesus that's bad luck) as well, I want to warn you that copyright id could or will 100% be triggered by more than the one clip you used. One of multiple clips I saw claimed was used in your video in full and I was honestly surprised that you were able to upload it in the first place (the footage in question was Mikisugi's sequence of outfit changes from pre-history to present), I had to cut that entirely from my video. If you have received a strike PLEASE DON'T RISK YOUR CHANNEL BY REUPLOADING WITH ONLY THAT ONE SEQUENCE CHANGED. I expect you've already got a decent idea of how to do so, but if you did want advice on avoiding copyright id or more specifically how I avoided it using Kill La Kill footage just send me a message or email (my email can be found on my channel in the about / contact for business inquiries section). This sucks, but being able to avoid copyright id or unwanted legal attention is something you can do, unfortunately for your video it would require significant changes to be safe, but it still could be done / improved upon. Otherwise, I'd try to either make safe videos or at least avoid reuploading to KZbin until your strike expires, don't risk your whole channel for a single video - believe me I understand that impulse, but it isn't worth it.

You're definitely right about this. Of course, my immediate instinct was to try to do a recut and re-upload then and there. But then I realized that if I could get a full-on copyright strike for just those 7 seconds, pretty much the entire video is fair game.... So for now at least, I'm going to wait and see how this strike plays out. Hopefully the video will come back up and it'll be back to business as usual. If my appeal gets turned down, then I'll start figuring out what changes I need to make to get the video back on YT. Thank you for the advice and encouragement, and don't worry, I won't do anything to jeopardize this channel.

@@MichaelSaba Glad to hear it :) Out of 10+ copyright id claims both automatic and manual I've only had one appeal overturned in my favor, so I'm not going to lie and tell you it's likely, because they rarely are overturned. You do have the right to use the footage under the common understanding of fair use (legal precedents haven't really been set though, so an ironclad protection it is not), but companies won't admit that until you get into legal action and no-one wants that (not least of all to avoid setting an aforementioned legal precedent). The strike is pretty scary, I've managed to avoid getting one so far, but I believe after a 90 days without incurring another strike you're all good again and the strike is removed. It's a damn long time, but you could consider the YMS approach in future - put the full video elsewhere and a butchered copyright issue free version on YT. No one wants to have to do that of course, but it is an option. Best of luck, I hope they do revoke the strike.

I saw the video on vimeo, and, it spoke to me immensely. I'm a 21 year old college student depressed and stuck with the feeling I'm living just to waste time til I die. I've been portraying myself as someone I don't want to be, someone that would fit into a mold in society. I didn't want to be that anymore. I know I'm super late but....As someone who makes anime youtube essays as well I usually go through this with every video. I usually appeal though, and it can take months through several appeal processes, but I've won all of them. So if I upload a video in december, It will probably take to maybe march or april for the video to be up because the businesses get 30 days to respond to your counters, and they wait the full lenth. These copyright trolls are the worst. They get mad when someone pirates their stuff and wants to get sue happy, but they in bad faith illegally take down videos with no restraint. Kind of ironic really. But it is pretty infuriating knowing that there is a small window of relevancy for every topic unless your a big youtuber.

Hey just wanted to say I went and watched your video. I was born and grew up in Japan till I was 13 and then lived in Australia with my parents as they returned there. I live in Japan again now. My parents were missionaries here and my family is very Christian but I no longer believe in god or go to church. Many things have happened for me to question and give up my own strongly held beliefs and I continue to try and learn and explore new ideas. I really liked the message in this vedeo and hope to continue to try and live in such a way. As for the age we live in the rise of a reactionary facism or nationalism or watever it is, is very disturbing to me. I study refugee issues and I find the scape goating of refugees to be particularly disgusting. All the best in your work and hope to see more content from you. If I were seriously yhinking about career on KZbin (I'm not), my first step wouldn't be Patreon (it would've been a step, but not the first step), my first question wouldn't be "How stable my income would be on this platform?" My first question would be "how stable would be the income of somebody like me?" How much would I gain from a lawyer representation? How much would anyone win from lawyer representation? In fact... what about unionization? Sure, KZbin don't employ (most) creators, but they definitely take a lot of decisions that affect them. Sure, individual creators can't simply leave the KZbin to host their content elsewhere and not loose anything. But can KZbin loose all of their independent creators a simply ignore it? It is time of great uncertainty. Surely, it can de used by corporations to mislead people and divide them. But it can also be used to connent and unite. It can be used to change things for all creators, today and tomorrow. It was my couple of pennies. Good luck!

And there's a lot more KZbinrs, a lot more videos like these. People, who were wronged by the system. People, who burnout within the system that doesn't care, or rest or slow down. People who attempt to wrestle a giant with a thousand eyes and no mind... all on their own. But this giant in fact a bunch of machines, governed by men and supported by technicians. And you KZbin creators are not alone. Some of the brightest people, some of the funniest, some of the most charismatic. And there are even more people behind the screens, watching you. It is actually a bit scary, how much influence you may have, if combined and used for the wrong ends. And as recent scandals had shown, KZbinrs aren't any more immune to fame overdose, than anyone else before. In the end, KZbin collective might end up in the same place, as modern Hollywood and music industry, but until then. For the right cause, you might learn, that your voices combined are much more important, than all those money KZbin got to sell you out piece by piece.
