50:42 Anyone else notice the extra in the blurred background who slips over and lands straight on his arse? The actress definitely saw it happen. You can see when turns around that she's stifling a smile.
@drawbridge6113 жыл бұрын
Yep, in fact I commented on it earlier today, but then I saw you'd already caught it, so I deleted it. I was wondering if it was an outtake and they decided to leave it in, picking up on the theme (and a line in this episode) that "not everything is what it appears to be." Was that in fact an extra, or was it (the character) Berezhoy? I'd like to believe it was the latter -- the theme of falling down, picking yourself back up, and... just keep going. Just as he did when every plan he tried to accomplish failed because of the embedded spy.

This is a great series. It's the 4th series I have watched from Star Media. They are all great. I keep wondering about the chubby old lady sweeping snow that seems to be the same person and is in nearly every outdoor scene. She keeps sweeping absolutely nothing. Is it the same woman and does it mean anything? And why would she be sweeping snow? Thank you to Star Media for having English closed captions! I love your films and can't watch enough stories about World War II in Russia(or "The Great Patriotic War"). I was still in school (in the US) before communism ended and we were taught that the US and Britain really won the war against the Nazis but once communism ended I wanted to learn everything I could about our old "enemy" from the cold war. What I found was that Russia was the real hero of World War II. They suffered the most, killed nearly 90% of all German soldiers, created the best and most important tank of WWII, and were the 1 country that the Allies could not have been victorious without. The Russians won the war even with the handicap created by Stalin and the Soviets who murdered nearly the entire class of experienced officers just a few years before the war. Even with that setback the Russians still won. If not for Russia I would be dead or writing this in German.

Basically, you are right, but about the extermination of the command staff-this is a big exaggeration, part of the officers led by Tukhachevsky was eliminated, which was involved in the plot against Stalin , and in particular against Voroshilov, and it made up 3% of the entire officer staff of the red army.
@curtislowe45774 жыл бұрын
The climax was all too James Bond-y. Kill him quietly? You've got several men. But only send one? And then the old man kills the one younger professional killer. Pfffft. But no worse than Hollywood and Russia has had much more interesting recent history to set drama in. Now if Red Dawn had actually happened... 😲

According to the note of the NKGB officer G. G. Karpov, on September 4, 1943 Stalin (also Karpov and V. M. Molotov were present) accepted metropolitans Sergius (Stragorodsky), Alexy (Simansky) and Nikolay (Yarushevich); during the conversation the decision on election of the Patriarch opening of spiritual educational institutions was made; the decision on creation of body for interaction of the ROC with the government - Council for Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church at SNK was agreed. In response to the topic raised by Metropolitan Sergius about the persecution of the clergy, the need to increase the number of parishes, the release of bishops and priests who were in exile, prisons, camps and the possibility of unhindered worship, free movement around the country and residence in the cities - Stalin immediately gave instructions to "study the issue." He, in turn, suggested that Sergius prepare lists of priests who are in prison. On October 27, 1943, Patriarch Sergius presented a list of 26 names (24 bishops, 1 Archimandrite and 1 Archpriest). From this list, only one priest was not shot - Bishop Nicholas (Mogilev), but he remained in prison for more than a year and a half. As a residence, the Patriarch was given the building of the former residence of the German ambassadors to the USSR (Chisty lane, 5). On April 10, 1945, Stalin received the newly elected Patriarch Alexy, Metropolitan Nicholas and protopresviter Nicholas KolchitskyIt dealt primarily with the tasks of the Patriarchate in the field of international relations (the record of the conversation remains unpublished). 19 April 1945, a reception was held by Stalin, vicar General of the Echmiadzin Catholicosate of Metropolitan George (of Seoraksan). Stalin instructed to provide the necessary assistance to Echmiadzin in the conduct of the Church Council; a written Appeal, which included requests for the return of Church buildings, property, relics, permission for the departure of Church delegations abroad and the opening of a Bank account, imposed a resolution in one word: "I Agree."
