Yeahh I feel bad for Chaos Cult. I have an ongoing game (Chaos Cult vs Hand of the Archon, and "ongoing" due to college time constraints so we're doing 1 turning point a day), and in TP 2, the moment I got the first torment, it was nearly one-shot in melee by the Crimson Duellist, and the torment got finished off shortly afterwards. A bit disappointing for what is now a once per turning point flesh tank.

I recently played Farstalker Kinband vs Tempestus Aquilons and it probably was one of the most fun matches ive ever played. I managed to win with my Kroot, but me and my opponent both only had 2 models left.

Farstalkers to me still feel bad to use. Maybe because it's I'm not competitive into kill team. But kroot die very easily to most things, the farstalk ability is rarely used besides making sure you opponent doesn't get one-two (until the they shoot) range kill per turning point. Kroot can't push up without dying so you can't complete most tac ops that either require you in melee or in enemy territory. Melee sucks unless up against very weak units, very limiting piercing attacks so bad against elites (but elites are op already so that doesn't matter). I really want to like farstalkers but I don't see anything going for them

Great analysis as always. I am really disappointed that GW have nerfed most teams (which would be fined if that was followed through with all teams) but then massively buffed elites who are so good they basically now have no downsides and so many re rolls they just negate the dice rolling part of the game. Whereas all non elites are still very much at the whims of the dice gods, so they will always be on the losing side from a stats point of view. Shooting counteract with no negatives is crazy meaning they can easily kill three enemies each per turn.

I could see the case for Phobos as Recons/Seekers/Headhunters, Nemesis Claw as Command/Veterans & oddly Scouts as Effrit (shotguns, sniper rifles & power daggers). Angels of Death gives me the chance to bring Alpharius as the Captain, Exodus as the Eliminator & a Terminator as the Gravis guy (bunch of different size & shape dudes is fun to build & paint, you get that TF2 mix of silhouettes), OTOH Brood Brothers lets me bring kitbashed Solar Aux with an Apothecary as the Primus (Power sword & pistol, Narthecium as injector) Librarian as Magus (staff & power dagger) & dual lightning claw terminator as Patriarch vs Blooded which lets me do the same with an Overseer as the Commissar & Terminator with a hammer & chainfist as the Ogryn. As usual I can't get out of my own way to make a decision, as befitting the XXth.

*Novitiates:* The 4 fight action Penitent is nothing to freak out about. The series of events that have to take place has practically no chance of occurring. You need perfect board setup involving 2 of your own models and two separate group of 1-2 of your opponent's models within charge range of each other... you would have to avoid taking 7 wounds in a single fight action 3 times in a row ASSUMING that you actually heal up to full between each action... and you would have needed to START the turn in control range of the enemy. It just isn't going to happen. Even getting 3 fight actions instead of 4 in a single activation is so unlikely as to not be worth considering. Not to mention you are FAR better off pairing your Exactor with the Preceptor or Duellist (giving another model a second fight action is WAY BETTER than giving a model with 2 fight actions ALREADY the 0.001% chance of using a third or a fourth).

Here is my hot take for marine teams. Counteract should be on engage. Except for Phobos. Makes sense Phobos can do sneaky stuff on conceal. All other Astartes can only counteract on engage. It makes the eliminator a little less insane, and makes all the teams a little more risk reward. Otherwise maybe we are just looking at elite teams becoming 5 operatives each? Reducing piercing down to a minimum of 1 seems the more fair way to balance it in my opinion. Doesn’t utterly make vespid faction rule worthless, plus a bunch of other teams ways to deal with elites.

There are so many unclear aspects about the inquisitors. We need an FAQ before I can pass judgement. Even if all the FAQs are ruled in favour of making them worse they probably will still need a nerf though. I'd rather see the ancillaries nerfed than have the core team nerfed. It would be cool if taking a full inquisitor team was a viable option.

scouts should be at A tier at the very least! my wyrmblade at 8+ games so far this edition can max on crit op and tac op against both horde and elites, winning all my games so far except against scouts which i went 0-2 against. their trip mines with seek + well positioned heavy gunners for relentless are hella dirty and in the hands of an adept player they can surely win any local tourney. i currently fear no other team but them 😅

As someone who's played Legionaries and Angels of Death more than any other teams I have to agree about them both being overpowered. They are way WAY too good. Good enough that I don't think I'd enjoy playing against C or D tier teams. Simplifying the marks and reducing the complexity of the strats and faction abilities and giving me a reason to use a mark other than Nurgle are all good. They just over-corrected. A lot.

I like both equally. Brood brothers can be more expensive if you wan't The Patriarch, Magus or the Primus as those come in a separate box.

Don't agree about Pathfinders - I comlpetely butchered a Vet Guard team (tabled them) with a team of 8 Shas'la, Recon, and Marksman. I think Saturate is too powerful at the first markerlight level - its way better than Balanced, so I think these should be swapped so Saturate is 2nd level markerlight.

@@CanYouRollaCrit I don't think so. Balanced is not as good as Saturate - Saturate guarantees 1 extra hit going through, but Balanced only gives a chance at an extra hit. I think single rerolls tend to be valued too highly (especially on teams with 4+ hit or worse).
