Making music is not a competition. Good musicians make others sound good. It seems Yoyoka has that idea ingrained.
@iFoneVids3 жыл бұрын
She seems to be always aware of that and of her place in the music as a whole. That’s just the respect she has for the music and for the other musicians. She’s a great team player and collaborator. She mentioned on one of her interviews that she doesn’t want her drums to be the center of attention or louder than the other instruments. Very mature.

@@nielshoogev1 tell that to the members of Cream or the Jimi Hendrix Experience they competed against each other every time they played and sounded pretty good to me. And that's only two of the many bands that played that way. But I'm no expert like you so what do I know....other than there is more than one way to make great music. Some people like to be pushed and some like to enhance by complimenting.

True power and greatness doesn't come from exuding force over another but rather by its restraint. YOYOKA can play with restraint because she doesn't need to prove her abilities to anyone.

@Me - yes the sound quality is not the same as in a studio. You can go to any of Yoyoka’s channel of vast repertoire and hear them there. This is about a young professional traveling around and gigging with other professionals for the enjoyment of a live audience, something we all lost in the past 2 years of isolation. I am sure our dream concerts with an amazing band fronted by Yoyoka and mixed to absolute perfection will come our way soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the show.

@@tibetbill I think you need to write a top level COMMENT explaining this is a drum clinic performance, and not a 'traditional' concert, rather than waste your time replying to each person. If you haven't done that in a day or two, I probably will, because it's frustrating to read these comments based on misunderstanding and/or ignorance. Plus this video is probably gathering 'dislike' for erroneous reasons. Have you a path to Yoyoka? She/her dad might help by adding something like 'drum clinic performances' to the title and change the description to explain the event in the first few lines. Keep up the good work. Well done. Happy New Year.
@gbulmer3 жыл бұрын
@@tibetbill I hope Rie or Aki improves the title and description soon. I agree with you. Yoyoka is giving positive, valuable drum clinics helping other drummers improve their skills. Further she's doing them with her family in support *during their holidays.* They even goes to the extra effort to promote some local drummers in a video. Then she gets 'hate', where there should be love and support. My Mum always said "if you can't sat something nice, say nothing" . While we wait for *'the cavalry'* would you prefer I try to COMMENT at the top level explaining what the video is about, or would you prefer to try to do that? Well done for trying to explain the facts of the events. Yes, her Improv live stream was wonderful. It was so easy for her to play Toto's 'Rosanna' that I was both dumfounded and grinning from ear to ear. Her playfulness and 'Keith Moon' drum faces while casually "killin' it' were joyous.😄 Happy New Year. I hope 2022 is a superb year for you.

@TheRealBKSchyster3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yoyo..... Arrrrgghhhh.... I sincerely hope that you will trust me, when I say that this was definitely not the best video we have seen you in. The mix, while maybe you could hear it fine from the mix in your I.E.M.'s, but sonically it was a disaster, and quite disappointing 😞.... Remember what I had mentioned a year or so ago about collaborations and multi instruments, especially if a second instrument is another set of drums??? Well, it happened... these videos were drum heavy due to "competing drummers," it happens when you don't even want it, or mean for it too!! Bands that feature two drummers take a significant amount of time to gel, to fall into place and to know each and the other's role within the song, in other words, musical instrument arrangements, are very important, especially with two drummers!! I am simply asking you to go back and listen to this video, the same way 95% of your audience is... via a cell phone or laptop, even a desktop... the important thing is... computers see sound as 1 and 0's, digitally and sadly a computer does not care about timbre or Sonic quality, and distorts very quickly, and from a variety of sources, it is a very sticky wicket to mix for!! You have in part quantified the drum signal, by placing the audio in dual register in combination and comparison to all the other instruments. Look kiddo, I have been watching you play for a very long time now, and I certainly am "PRO YOYO!" However, if your going to continue to play in videos like this, you have to set guidelines (arrangements) for the drums!! As guitar players do, so must drummers in order to set the right sound floor!! There has to be a (for lack of better words..,) a "rhythm" drummer and a lead drummer....🤯...🙄...I'm sure you are asking yourself, is BK lost his mind!!!!!!!!! No, I have though for over four decades, recorded and played in bands with two OR MORE... DRUMMERS!! It took awhile to iron out the arrangements, sometimes individuals want the spotlight and all the time... IT NEVER WORKS OUT WELL!!!! FAILURE IS EMINENT!!! UNLESS.... Drumming Arrangements have been worked out!! Please believe me, it pains me dearly to say this to you, to critique your video this way...!!! HOWEVER, I trust that your professional "intuitiveness" will agree, and make the necessary changes!! REMIND YOURSELF, I AM ABSOLUTELY "PRO (for, not against!!!) YOYO!!" I sincerely want nothing but the best for you!!! Consider these words, "Overloaded IN = Overloaded OUT!!! There are certainly other words I could use in place of the "Overloaded," ask your engineer, he/she will tell you what I mean... this should help... decibels, they become doubled with every 3 dBm in we see a doubling of the audio signal, which is seen as physical energy,(the drums in this instance,) then that needs to be converted into electrical energy at the microphone or dBu, then transfered to whatever media your recording to, here I suspect it is digital (ok, at this point, I am not going to throw the mixing console, or outboard processors at you yet...!) but the point I am making is... unless you two drummers are isolated from each other, that (in ideal conditions) 600 ohm microphone (or whatever ohm, there is a mixture of them in the video...) is becoming quite overwhelmed or Overloaded with drum heavy signals, making a bit of "mush" for the engineers to handle. Much of that can be eliminated and "cleaned up," with simple drum arrangements!!! Also, don't hit so hard... that is for both or ten drummers if you have them... simply said, a little bit goes a long ways!!! ANYWAY, KEEP ON KEEPING ON SISTER DRUMMER!!!!!!!!!! PEACE!!!!!!!!!!🤘🏼 Finally, I will conclude with this, "you can't win em' all!!" Meaning every once and a while, you don't hit the plateau that you were shooting for, no worries, just take the time to take good, constructive criticism and turn it into the success you set out to obtain...

I am sure this is rehearsal. Recorded in an empty auditorium the sync between cameras is great but why no audio from the board? This was in Japan, land of Live at Buddakan and Maed in Japan for Buddha's sake. Why did it have to sound like a school dance? These cats generally excell at engineering. Come to really enjoy the band Yoyoka has been posting with in 2021. Disappointing when the music is so rocking but the sound is shit.
