Good evening, Dr. Grande! Another example of "marry in haste and repent at leisure." It's a shame it often happens that seemingly intelligent, successful people choose losers to tie themselves to. Shele should have paid attention to the fact that Rod couldn't keep a job before she tied the knot. And Rod's interests were only backgammon and extramarital sex. But it seems that she was desperate to get married since she was 37 and her clock was ticking. Rod was 25 and looking for a meal ticket. Rod is the most likely candidate for Shele's murder, especially since he wasn't divorced from Shele and was still in her will to the tune of $5 million. Thanks for sharing.

Why is everybody forgetting that they were both Orthodox Jews, which severely limited her dating pool? Some of us do actually take God and His laws and our faith and our eternal salvation seriously, and that's the biggest factor in who we marry. I, for instance, am a Traditional Catholic, and I could never marry somebody who did not also keep the traditional faith, as it was prior to Vatican II in the 1960's.

If you don't notice red flags and act upon them by then, then I guess he was that cunning or she uncannily chose to ignore them until she was totally engrossed in his agenda. This is a tragic case at so many levels. In addition, their kids were left without a mother and, in a way, a father. It’s amazing to me the lack of regards for the children’s welfare. That is a sad story. An intelligent, pretty, and successful woman who felt her biological time was running out. That is a lot of stress to put on somebody. Can relate here in terms of age and inability to find a partner. Better to go for egg freezing than to go with the wrong guy. Not the best option but a better option than settling for a dangerous person and ending up dead. Although one may never really know the person one is with, there may be red flags and micro signs however one should never ignore. As they say, if a person reveals themself to you, believe them.

I think what I find most disturbing is that Rod pulled a woman like Shelley in the first place. But also, other women wanted to have sex with him? My ex-husband wanted a polyamorous marriage and didn't bother to ask. Hence "ex" husband. There are far too many women like Shelley. I truly believe my ex wants to kill me too. He is the mayor of my town. Like Rod, my ex also took our baby to court and attempted to get a restraining order on me, claiming I beat the both of them (narcissists can't stand it when the baby gets all the attention). Things have deteriorated since then. Again, what really gets me is how many women are so quick to get into a relationship with these men. It boggles the mind.

As per reports, Rod tried to frame his young daughter by writing a note on the laptop pretending to be Anna, which read, “ All of these years, I have been so incredibly afraid and guilty about the night my mom died. I lied. She didn’t just slip. That day we got into a fight about her dating…I got mad, so I pushed her, but it couldn’t have been that hard! I didn’t mean to hurt her! I swear! But she fell, and I (sic) heard a terrible noise, and the water started turning red, and I tried to pull her head up, but she remained still….” This would only be the first of many times Anna’s name would be involved in the case.

I was reading comments to see if anyone else had commented about what I found most disturbing, the daughter believes her father is innocent?! Finally, debwestendorf26 mentioned she read a book about this murder and his parents got custody of the kids and that the father brainwashed his daughter (which isn’t surprising) but even after her father tried to frame her, HIS parents evicted him accusing him of taking the children’s money, the false accusation that his wife assaulted their son (and the judge restricted his visitation because of the lie), and all the confessions of the women about his wishes to harm HIS own parents (and use her, Anna to poison them) and his wife?! I suppose the daughter would not have been at the trial and not know about all this, but would the family not help her or get her help to deal with this?

Great video Dr Grande! I learn so much thru your insights. I’m illustrating a book about narcissism. It’s so fascinating to me how true narcissists target their victims and subsequently how the other person’s desperation clouds their judgement. Even to the point of fatality!

I feel like she might've gone to the Passover celebrations and then to the Botanic Garden with him for the sake of the kids. Like, she wanted to go together so kids spend time with both of their parents, esp the holidays. She clearly tried to keep things civil. But he didn't and when he got completely cut off, he killed her. And he let his 9-year old child discover the body...and then tried to frame her for the murder. It's despicable and shows he didn't care about his kids, and was treating them as tools when it was convinient to him. I'm not diagnosing him ofc, but it does sounds like a narcissistic parent.

Rod sounds like a nightmare. I believe men like this target specific women who have certain vulnerabilities that can be exploited. He cannot manipulate just any woman as many women would see right through the charming act to the deviousness at his core.

This guy must have watched the Forensic Files episodes called "Slippery Motives" where a man named Ed Post killed his wife in a hotel bathtub, tore off a shower ring to simulate a bathtub accident, and then went jogging, stopping along the way to say hi and talk to the hotel doorman, so he would be remembered and have an alibi. Exactly the same as this guy. But apparently, he didn't watch the end of the episode. Ed Post was convicted for the crime, and so did he.

@@zenawarrior7442 Thank you for your beautiful comment. The twins are starting their 3yr of medical school, their professors said they would email or computers online for their lectures. I hope your mum is doing better. I worked in aged care and reported the amount of neglect goings-on. . They closed one down and no new residents were allowed to be admitted for 6months, so I really hope she gets the care she deserves. The first grief councillor was confronting. Lots of love and hugs too you and your mum from you're family in Australia. Please take care and stay safe. 😢😚❤❤💙💙💙💙💔✉🎋🎋☕🌷🌷🌷🎇....... Also cctv cameras are now set up in nursing homes too see what's happening with care and to protect the residents from any form of neglect or abuse ❤

Dr. Grande, you may be interested in a similar incident involving the death of a famous Bollywood star, Sridevi. It happened in a hotel in Dubai. However, in that case it was ruled a accidental drowning, although it was hard to accept as the lady was very healthy and physically fit. There were lot of conspiracy theories too in that case. Many things just don't add up.

Good afternoon Dr Grande, what a charming man....not. I personally can't stand parents who use their children as weapons against the other parent. Rod certainly seems like a man child who always wanted things his way. I'm so pleased this monster is where he should be, ,locked up in prison. Thank you Dr Grande. . Brilliant analysis, tragic outcome and informative topic.

Modern orthodox Jews tend to marry young as there is a strong emphasis on raising children. It is highly unusual for a woman in this community to wait until the late thirties to get married. This would have severely limited Shelle's choice of partner. Sad story.

@𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐒'𝐀𝐏𝐏†𝟏𝟓𝟏𝟎𝟒𝟎𝟐𝟓𝟔𝟏𝟐 I don't really have that much to add. I am a modern Orthodox 65 year old Jew living in Israel so things may be different in the USA. However I live in a community that has a lot of immigrants from the USA and my impression is that the Modern Orthodox experience is similar every where. I don't have accurate statistics but my impression is that we tend to marry by the age of 25. Pre marital sex is definitely not encouraged but we tend to turn a blind eye when it happens. One thing that did surprise me a bit was that Shelle felt free to date despite not having a legal divorce. I guess that she obtained a religious divorce or what we call a 'get' from a religious court. I was under the impression that a religious court would not approve this without accompanying civil proceedings but I guess I was wrong here. Hope this helps. I really enjoy your insightful videos and dry humor. My community has a lot of immigrants from New Jersey (a place I have never been to) so your comment about it got me laughing.
