Mid-Michigan here. Potatoes, carrots, green beans & tomatoes are the staple in this house. I'm already going thru my seeds & deciding what to plant for next year - it's never too soon. I love your "Lump & Dump" videos. I never thought about covering the crockpot - makes sense. Have a wonderful day.

Every year the day before our first predicted freeze we would pick our garden clean. Green tomatoes went in the ripening trays, onions went in drying trays, everything freezable went to the freezer and any over flow went in the stew pot. We did eat good off of the last of the garden goodies and we saved and put up all we could. Those are always good times from our harvest. Great video Bev! I love your garden process!

Lookin' good you two! I made beef stew from an older (although vacuumed sealed) piece of chuck roast, a couple carrots in the crisper drawer, a handful of leftover mixed veggies from a previous meal and a couple potatoes diced up. Also, I had some homemade noodles in the freezer (boy, did they come in handy last night!) The crockpot was my savior, again. Hubs loved it along with a half recipe of baked potato bread rolls. Doesn't get much better than this, huh? He had lunch from leftovers today! Win-win!

Goulash is amazing. Carrots are a staple here too but I planted my carrots 4 times and I didn't even get 1 out of the garden. The worst part of this is that all my seeds were new this year too. Thank you Bev for all the videos you put out for us. God Bless

Onions are a staple in this house too.. I grew over 200 onion plants this past year for first time. I got tons of small ones and use them first boy do they make my eyes water!! I too am planning for next year as well. Had Chris build me a greenhouse and it was best decision ever. I am in Massachusetts and have cucumbers still growing in there and broccoli and lettuce now growing. I learn something new every day. You can see the home made greenhouse on my channel.. Great project for howie if you want to be able to control the growing environment better. I have no bugs or pests in there so things do awesome. I did tomatoes, cukes, onions, peppers in there. I even did potatoes in there!

I have 8 brothers and sisters. When we were children, my sister and I, had the job of garden clean out before the first frost. We didn't dare miss ANY veggies, our mother would tan our hide!! Food was tight 40 years ago in Eastern Appalachia!! I'll never forget how we would wash and chop those vegetables. My mother would can soup, in gallon glass jars, outside, in a washing tub lined with rings, over a fire. My brothers had to chop wood and keep the fire going for 6 hours at a rolling boil. It was very hard work, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I remember her letting the water boil down to expose the tops of the jars and she would pick them up with a folded towel and set'em on the ground. The next morning my sister and I, wiped them off and put them in the cellar. Thank God for pressure canners, lol🥰

If you go to timestamp 4:35 and only watch her cutting the zucchini, out of the corner of your eye on the right side you''ll see something jumping around. Me in my infinite wisdom decided that looks exactly like a mouse. I jumped up and yelled "RAT". My dogs looked at me like I had 3 heads. It was about that time I realized it was a bean end. I looked and at my boys (dogs) and told them that was my bad and that I was just joshin around. But for a split second, I could have swore that was a mouse coming after supper. That was a great looking meal. I don't like zucchini but I can substitute cause I have to make it. Thanks for another great recipe.

We get our first frost tonight, so I think I'll make something similar to this. I'll even use the crockpot. Often, during garden season, I make something I call "Hodgepodge Soup" which is a homemade soup using nothing but garden gatherings, including the herbs picked. It's always fun to make like you making your "Killer Frost Goulash".

Hi GGDeb, parsnips taste great, very sweet. I like to parboil them and roast with a little honey. I make them with a roast or for Christmas Dinner (my family love them, and there would be an uproar, if I don't make them for then). Peel like a carrot, top and tail, cut away the centre stalk. If long, cut in half, then cook. I hope this will help. 🇬🇧
