Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a 1988 American science fiction horror comedy film written, directed and produced by the Chiodo Brothers, and starring Grant Cramer, Suzanne Snyder, John Allen Nelson and John Vernon. It is the only film written and directed by the Chiodo Brothers, who also created the practical effects and makeup. It concerns a clan of evil extraterrestrials who resemble clowns. They arrive on Earth and invade a small town in order to capture, kill and harvest the human inhabitants to use as sustenance.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space was filmed in Watsonville, California, and at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The film utilizes practical effects, including rubber suits. The score was composed by John Massari. The film received generally positive reviews and has been considered a cult classic.
Sequels have been in development hell since the original film's release. Stephen Chiodo stated in 2016 that he hopes to produce three additional films, or possibly a television series. In 2018, NBCUniversal's Syfy announced that it was in talks to license the rights to make one or more sequels.

This is a fun little movie. I just picked up the 4K release and it looks and sounds great. My kids and I watched this in the late 80s and still enjoy it today. Thanks for the review, Barry.

The film knows what it is, I think the music and general aesthetic add to it. It kinda feels like something from the 60's but with an 80's twist.

I was worried when I saw the title of this video. I was like "how can you not think this is a cult classic?" You are correct though, it is a good movie mostly due to the quality acting , costumes and set design. Great movie to start kids on their horror movie path.

Sorry but I can't stand it as I hate clowns and can only put up with Pennywise. I had a run in with a real clown when I was a young girl at a carnival and he really freaked me out so I jumped up and punched him in the balls and ran away. I'd actually lost my cousins hand when it happened so she was trying to find me

Killer Klowns the Game just released a few weeks ago as well. It’s a horror asymmetrical so you can play as the Klowns versus Humans trying to escape or play the humans trying to escape

IT and Killer Clowns From Outerspace scared the shit out of me as a kid too. 😂Definitely a corny, fun one. Now I’m still afraid of real life clowns, but love the horror clowns. I’m so glad the Terrifier franchise came about and they’re still pushing the IT franchise.

Back in the day I remember it was always one you had to wait for at the video shop as somebody had already rented it, it was even a popular film that kids talked about make then.

If USA PG-13 is a 12 in England how come in England those horrors are rated 15 here. I've never seen any horror rated 12 🤔🤔

England don't have their own rating system. They follow the BBFC which covers the UK. Killer Klowns From Outer Space and The Woman in Black are 12 rated.

That's our system in the UK. At the cinema, we also have a 12A. That allows you to see it if you're under 12 but accompanied by an adult.
