I subscribed yesterday and have been binging your videos since then. Lately I've been having some success with weed walleyes here in Ontario . I mostly troll night crawlers on spinner rigs from my kayak. Thanks to your help I'll be adding more techniques for the rest of the summer and into October. After hand tying some spinners this morning I'll be on the water by 1 or 2pm. Thanks for the terrific content!!

As per usual, another fantastic video of Tom and Mitchell putting a hurting on the walleyes. You really are a genius when it comes to observation of the water and what is going on in the water column,(mayfly hatch). It's not hard to miss, quite often see the shell casings laying around on the surface. Congrats on another very informative video.

3/32 ounce northland tungsten punch jig, with a brown/orange berkley power nymph. Anytime theres mayflies hatching or dragonflies hatching en mass, thats my go to on 4lb test. For being real small, it is rediculously good. Caught over 70 eyes on saturday on a small lake along the canadian border in mn on saturday using it.

@@loboyd691 most were on intermediate flats in about 9 feet of water. Just after the first shoreline break, but before the drop into the main basin. Mud to gravel transition areas.

@@rometroy420 imby internatiomal falls mn so close and a typical shield lake. Hit the windswept shores, find where hard bottom transitions to soft or where boulders peter out to flat bottom. Casting up shallow, then snap jigging it back pretty aggressively. Pop-pop-pop, let sink. Repeat. Im fishing it on a 6'9" custom lite action rod a built with 5lb test.

@@rometroy420 im guessing it mimics closely enough a mayfly larva or a small crayfish. Easy source of protien for the walleye either way and they just have to have it. If water is stained with tannins more ill drop the power nymph and use a 2" white berkley power minnow on te same jig. Technically crappie tackle but the eyes up here seem to really snap up smaller offerings once water warms.

Always great videos Tom. I grew up on Green primarily fishing the Menominee River and mouth. During the mayfly hatches there the walleyes would literally be in the top 2’ of water. We would troll in 28’ of water with Rebel Wee Craws (the smallest one) just 10’ behind the boards. Lures couldn’t have been 1-2’ deep. Tons and tons of channel cats were up there too. All of the walleyes mouths and stomachs were chock full of mayflies and larvae. We always knew when it was time because the down imaging sonar would go blank (couldn’t mark any fish cuz they were right up on the ceiling). This bite happens there every year for about a week.

spinners and slow death rigs are best pulled around 1 mph. A little faster or slower but 2 mph is too fast for slow death and most spinners.

Paying for Gas to fill up a boat and vehicle is getting so expensive. A day out walleye fishing can easily cost over $100 in gas plus time. I recommend Costco walleyes at $9.99/lb for anyone who want to bring walleyes home and there’s no bag limit at Costco
