that Random tandem needs many more peeps on it, there are loads in the MTB world, but i reckon there might be tonnes of other celebs and athletes that would sign up. I am thinking it could be as big as Carpool Karaoke with a new Chat show style roll for Mart and A list tough actors being terrified as Mart takes then down a gnarly decent and scaring them into really interesting and honest answers as you have little ability to craft the typical prepared answers when locked into a berm

Anti-dive = a solution that makes things worse. I want dive when I brake. Generally, I'm turning after/during braking so the dive steepens the fork for quicker turning right when I need it and as I come out of the corner it slackens back for stability. I had motorcycles in the 80s with anti-dive mechanisms. They stiffened the fork exactly when I wanted suppleness. Never understood the thinking. I run Fox forx on all my mtb's now...no anti-dive, near perfection
@mtbboy19932 жыл бұрын
It's to keep the geometry more constant and to keep steering chsraristics too, syeepening the head angle results in more sensitive steering, on a old bike thst already had steep head angle making it even steeper cus of dive made the already horrible steering, alot worse, but modern bikes have so slack head angle and good geometry, sizing the bikes are easier to ride and stay balanced, easier to turn and steering is not super sensitive, it requires more rider input to turn, but it still won't be hard to turn, you can still corner fast, so all of this means rider does not have to fight the bike like old school bikes. But still with dive the modern bikes are easy to turn, even if you run the fork locked out or a rigid fork it will still be quick steering but won't and yet not be too witchy just as with fork setup properly. But I've not tried an antidive fork on my bike. I have a EXT ERA now. There is no way I would downgrade to a old school geometry. I love Nicolai/Geometron G1. Well balanced, perfect fit, well made. I've not tried linkage forks, but I saw some posts, and also mentioned in older episodes, a dude is developing a single leg linjage fork, it uses a shock.

The story behind Allen Millyard and his rear shock is that the technology is so old and freely available that nobody could put a patent on it, making it unattractive to the likes of Fox or Rockshox who want to continue selling incremental upgrades and protected IP as part of their competitive nature with other brands. Not to mention, major manufacturers do things differently, not just so we can be cynical about it, but also because that's just how some businesses need to operate.
@Surestick882 жыл бұрын
I've always been curious about the design of that shock, especially how the damping is done but there's a dearth of information about how it actually works inside. The high pressure gas spring is fairly easy to understand, basically an oleo I imagine, but I'm curious about the damping. Based on comments here and there from people that have ridden the thing I'm leaning towards position sensitive orifice damping, possibly using a variable area channel cut into the wall of the oil chamber without any shims or anything. Kind of like a sophisticated recoil damper on a piece of field artillery. Watching Allen Millyard's KZbin channel I get the feeling the mystery surrounding it was him being a bit mischievous if the tech is so well known. I guess I could always buy an Intend shock and take it apart but they're a bit rich for my blood.

I’m a proud owner of a Nicolai Nucleon ST, so I need to put my vote on that one! :) It is super strange to me that they did not include any of the crazy Brooklyn Machine Works projects, you have the TMX with moto seat, the rubber duckie and the Big Link which are ultra extreme FR bikes, just bonkers… and then you have a working 30 foot or so long BMX which would easily be the most extreme bike I have ever seen. It was built for a tv ad or something and it was the size of a school bus and they had to take a team of people to ride it around Brooklyn.

Not so obvious but I‘d put in the first Scott Ransom with their self designed shock. I had to run this with almost 40 bars of pressure and pumping it up already made me sweat - from the force the pump required but also from the fear of explosion. One day the hose of the pump exploded with a bang and left my ears with beeeeeeeeeeep.

Didn't you think that removing the boot from the forks was a bad idea and marketing, I do not think that a good boot will keep dirt inside the forks (the old Lefty and Fatty showed that the boot works fine if you do it right!) besides in a fork with a sealed boot no oil seal or boot is needed and it will work smoother! Don't laugh, please, but I tried to attach a condom to the fork ^ _ ^ and it was super clean under it even after a month of riding and everything was great until it broke on a branch)
