The more successful a hunter is, the more picky it gets. Orcas only eat what their moms and grandmas teach them to eat, and it is very specific to the culture of that pod. For example, the Southern Resident Orcas only eat Salmon. Offshore Orcas that feast on great white sharks typically don't eat dolphins or gray whales, and vice versa. This is why no human has ever been killed by a wild Orca, and even in captivity (4 fatal incidents), no person was "eaten".

I've kind of doubt it. Killer whales born in captivity don't know how to hunt like killer whales in the wild. They're literally hand fed. Thats why when a killer whale (who was raised by humans most of it's life) have a difficult time being released into the ocean. They have a very difficult time learn how to hunt it's own.

If it was a transit. Orca dolphins from different pods have different dialects, different habitats, different hunting techniques, and different prey. Transits eat marine mammals such as seals, sea otters, and young baleen whales. Residents and offshores eat fish such as sharks (Even white sharks and tiger sharks), salmon, herring, and cod. However residents will eat mammals if fish is hard to come by. Orca dolphins have even been known for killing polar bears, brown bears, reindeer, and even moose, as they swim between islands of land!

What I find amazing is that the orca is not attacking the dolphin. I love them both. I really wish it was like that in the wild. But these beautiful animals belong in the ocean. Sea World and other parks that does this needs to end now. But money is more important to them then an animal that is suffering. My heart can't take it.

Larisa Meek you appear to be everywhere when it comes to this topic. And honestly, sometimes I just get sick and tired of your comments. You've probably listened to some PETA idiot and decided that everything they said was so true and right and not even bothered to do research on the other side. Or watched Blackfish, either or both. These animals are in no way begging for food, and I think you should at least no that. They get fed no matter what they do, and can choose to not participate if they wish. Entire shows have been cancelled because the Orca or other such animals decided that they didn't want to perform, and that was completely fine with the trainer's, they just stated that the animals can choose to perform or not, and obviously didn't want to that time. However, I get where you are coming from. You obviously care for these animals, and so do I, don't think I'm pro cap, I'm not, but I'm not anti cap either. I just feel like you need to broaden up your knowledge a little bit and take a look at the other side. That's what I did.

+Dolphin Lover i went whale watching in Alaska and the Orcas NEVER did tricks like this. They only do it to get fed. They are slaves and you know it but don’t want to admit it. Also I live in San Diego and I can see Seaworld from my house. There is more room for people to park their cars than for the whales to swim. And finally. Their lifespans are extremely decreased. No orca in Captivity has ever lived its full lifespan.
