My favorite clip from my christmas day Killer whale encounter. CA23A2 (the one closest to the camera) and CA140B2 Bee (the smaller one) emerge from the murk of the ocean for a close pass before carrying on their way. Very faintly in the background behind the bubbles made by CA23A2's fluke you can make out a third orca. While that whale is too far to be identified by her eye patch or dorsal fin I can use process of elimination to say its CA140B1 Stinger since CA140B Louise and CA140B3 Buzz were passing off to the left further.
These whales were identified by California Killer Whale Project. You can check out their website for more information and to see other California Killer Whales known to science!
